Hello,

since I have to recoup some money, I decided to sell my good old HP Compaq EVO N610c. It's a 1.8 GHz Pentium 4M notebook with 14" 1024x768 colour screen, 120 GB hard drive, 1 GB of memory and radeon IGP card (no wifi, but can be added). I sell it with current Icaros Desktop development build already intalled (and Windows XP in another partition, but this is in Italian, sorry).

English keyboard layout converted to italian one using removable stickers.

hi the ubuntu base comes when we start the indiego beta testing. may be end of march. may be a bit later.

in the meanwhile i tried freebsd and dragoflybsd. lacks a bit regarding drivers.. but as soon they are ready i will use it. linux stuff is working too.

i am a bit on a rant.
this version is the last i have uploaded to the public because i like to share my work not with idiots and trolls. and believe me 1 troll weights more than 10 good words.

i will send you a password for login at the weekend.

The lx command is part of the "guest additions". BTW without granted permission you aren't allowed to distribute the interesting parts of AEROS in any form ; ) Is your distro planned to stay "free" without profit in mind? Alternatively you could work with us.. (?)

I am willing to work with you provided that you allow me to distribute AEROS(including all but not limited to the interesting parts) as part of my linux distro. If not, then I will have to use xfce4 instead.

Ah interesting sounds like "based on AEROS r4 ; )" In AEROS r4 "AEROS equals a "SUPERVIZOR" which handles "containers" IcAROS, AspireOS, Broadway X will be each in an sperate container, Windows can be installed too in a container, Same is true for every other OS for ARM, PPC, x86, x64, 68k. The idea is to move the supervizor stuff into the 64MB large BIOS Rom. So after booting the system and if the user enabled the boot loader you will see first this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vz_1TN4JqTA If you insert a windows CD it will be recognized and a wizard will lead you to finished installation side by side to AmigaOS 3.9 for example. This is "based on AEROS r4".

The linux distro will be using the GUB boot loader without modifications. As far as running a Operating System is concerned, all you will have to do is click on a icon on the desktop. Each operating system will be stored in the /dist/[operating system name] directory which will contain a disk image. The icons will be stored in the /dist/images directory. The main reason for using AROS as the main desktop is because linux distros using Gnome, KDE, xfce4, etc... are everywhere.

What is MicroXP ? I want this as well !!

I am using a Dell Latitude 6410, only VESA Graphic works for me.... giving a prediction about wether it works or not is nearly impossible. So best thing is to burn Icaros Distro on a DVD and boot from DVD in order to try. If things fail, oben PCITool and find out Vendor/Model numbers of your Sound/Network/etc. Post them here or check the WIKI linked above.

However, removed my Wificard out of the DELL and put a compatible Atheros Wifi (3,50€ on ebay) into the WAN port, and voila -> it works. On other Notebooks you can probably use the WLAN Port as most of them are miniPCI
