P.S.: I heard that there was a workaround for pdksh's fork() call. So writing similar compat for git port should play for us.

It depends very much on how the fork() function is used whether porting such code will be complicated or not.

Some programs use fork() just to run a CLI program asynchronously (like UADE for instance). Such usage of fork() is usually pretty easy to replace.

Has anyone tried porting simplegit?

https://github.com/sba1/simplegit

It might be less work since it doesn't need fork() and it already supports AmigaOS.

Have you tried setting a HOME env variable?

setenv HOME Path:to/home/dir

and - just out of curiosity - how do I pick up a project?

I think you just send an e-mail telling them which project you are interested in doing. At least that is how I got assigned to the AROS FUSE bounty.

Anyway, there used to be a semi transparent red traingle mouse pointer that was used by default. I don't see any option for it anymore. Is there a way I can get it back?

If it's the one I think you are referring to, then you can get it by deleting or renaming the file "SYS:Prefs/Env-Archive/SYS/pointer.prefs" and then rebooting.

It is really ugly IMO.

I just tried IffAnimPlay on linux hosted AROS and it plays animations just fine, though a bit too quick maybe.

I'm currently using a nightly build from 4.12.2014 so things may have changed since making a recompile necessary.

To translate the WBArg into a full path you can do:
TEXT fullpath[1024];

NameFromLock(WBArg->wa_Lockfullpathsizeof(fullpath));
AddPart(fullpathWBArg->wa_Namesizeof(fullpath));

However generally it's more efficient to just do:
BPTR oldcdfile;

oldcd CurrentDir(WBArg->wa_Lock);
file Open(WBArg->wa_NameMODE_OLDFILE);
CurrentDir(oldcd);

if (
file != 0) {

/* ... */

Close(file);
}

IMPORTANT NOTE:
This release comes with binaries for the AmigaOS4/PPC and AmigaOS3/m68k platform only. Unfortunately, due to lack of motivated developers we couldn't provide working binaries for the MorphOS/PPC or AROS (PPC, i386, x86_64) platform in time. If you are, however, interested in seeing AmiSSL v4 being ported for these other Amiga-based platforms, please try to find motivated and talented developers who could join our team as proper maintainers for these alternative platforms. In addition, if you are a MorphOS or AROS developer yourself, feel free to send proper pull requests to see your platform supported in one of the next releases or please consider joining our team.

Ohh this looks interesting, a sign of things to come? I am a big fan of native, but have been toying lately with how much integration would be possible with a hosted version.

I think the point he was trying to get across is that the "info" command doesn't show you how much memory is in the system but instead only shows information about file system devices and volumes.

To see how much memory there is you should use the "avail" command.

On AmigaOS 3.1, sys:storage contains drivers that are NOT used.

Not quite true.

SYS:Storage/DOSDrivers is for devices that are not automatically mounted from S:startup-sequence but have to be mounted manually with the C:mount command.
