From your PCIe output:

Description: Mass storage IDE
VendorID: 0x8086
ProductID: 0x2820
Class: 0x01
Subclass: 0x01

Your ICH8 controller is in IDE mode, not SATA AHCI mode.

In AHCI mode, you would see:

Description: Mass storage SATA
VendorID: 0x8086
ProductID: 0x2824
Class: 0x01
Subclass: 0x06

So ahci.device is not even coming into play, since your controller is in IDE mode, and the PCIe Class/Subclass is advertising itself as an IDE controller, not an AHCI SATA controller.

You need to see if there is a BIOS option that'll change that.

One thing to note: The AHCI driver only supports AHCI, not Silicon Image or other non-AHCI SATA chipsets.

The PCI vendor/device IDs of your drive controller may help debug this issue.

That looks like an IDE (not AHCI) issue.

Are you sure you have SATA/AHCI turned on in your BIOS?

I've fixed a grievous issue in the past week.

Please try a recent ABI_V1 nightly build.

Hi Jason - There is/was an LwIP based port in contrib that was almost working bar the sana-ii device interface.

Thanks, I'll look into it!

I'm working on a lwIP based bsdsocket.library. It should have IPv6/IPv4 support when I'm done with it.

Track my progress here:

Oops!

I'll revert that today. Looks like a new feature of the DragonFly BSD driver doesn't work quite yet.

@Dizzy:

Is that a regression, or the same behavior you had seen before on the ASUS?

Can you get me the model # off the sticker on the bottom of the ASUS? I'll see if I can figure out what the chipset is, and see if I need to update the 'quirks' table for it.

ASUS was (is?) notorious for using the same 'model number' put constantly changing the chips in that model, depending on what was cheapest at the time.

Wayback Machine: Reminds me of Diamond VGA cards - they had the same 'problem'....
