Yes, there's no reason why the driver can't be endian neutral, and that should be a requirement IMHO.

Already done, tested all the latest Nightly Build (ABI-v1) including today but the issue of IControl prefs, Input prefs, Wanderer prefs etc... applications seems to have remained!

Italian translations are working for me with those prefs programs in the 2017-06-22 pc-i386 ABIv1 nightly build (and nothing's changed between 19th and 22nd June). Menus have not been translated yet however, because they are provided by a separate class.

Wanderer's Italian catalog has been updated, but the one for its prefs program hasn't been yet.

Also, discussion of this topic would be better in the Wanderer translations thread.

Um... Well I just looked at the label for the BXB6 in the docs. The one I tested was out of a macbook. I don't know if that makes a huge difference (and no I wasn't testing it in a mac).

Yes, it's possible the driver doesn't work well with that chipset (I don't have time right now to check if any of the cards the driver has been tested with have that chipset), but it's also possible that the BIOS isn't playing well with it (either intentionally or accidentally) simply because it isn't the factory-fitted card.

Thanks origami. The only comment I'd make is that some of those entries lack context (which can be got from the source directories affected). E.g. I didn't bring *all* catalogues up to date, only the ones for the Fonts prefs program

So is it 8168 or 8169? It's just that in your earlier post you mentioned 8169. I tired both 8168 and 8169 drivers with my new harware and whilst the 8168 did lock up the machine the 8169 worked fine.

Indeed. rtl8168.device should be removed or moved to the Storage dir.

@Mangonuts

As a last resort, can you give some information on the system/motherboard models you have?

@ntromans

Did you get my email? I'm not sure if the address I used is still valid.

Options in GRUB menus to disable certain components for debugging:

Disable ATA: "ATA=off"
ATA safe mode: "ATA=nodma,32bit"
Disable AHCI/SATA: remove ahci.device line with Ctrl-K.
Disable USB: remove pciusb.device and poseidon.library lines with Ctrl-K.
Disable native graphics: "nomonitors"

Disabling audio can't be done in GRUB, but disabling the startup sound in Icaros prefs should prevent it from starting (unless you plug USB device in or out, which may play a sound).

That's a pity. You never know, I might buy one of these boards since it's fairly cheap.

@Mangonuts

Have you tried disabling unnecessary drivers, e.g. AHCI, USB, audio?

Also, knowing the exact systems you have might help us.

Hi Nigel, I've added a fix to the HDAudio driver for a lot of recent Intel controllers. Maybe it will help you. I've attached the new version here.
