what are you offering?

Creating a bounty or doing it yourself?

Bounties without developers taking them mostly fail

Wawa does not own Vampire but use it on a 68060 amiga

as I understand it they are working on a native SAGA driver. Current driver is based on the original driver done by Toni Wilen who admitted that the driver was not very well optimized, simply because not needed when running on UAE

as I understand it Gunnars FPU is far more better than the old FPUs, but needs special code to use and show it and because of that he asked for developers to write special code that shows it like it happened with Riva. So yes bigger FPGAs solve that but you cannot upgrade current cards so you need a solution for current users too.

might be that current used FPGAs are too small and it will only be available in bigger FPGAs like those used in the standalone devices and like I read somewhere that just most important FPU instructions are integrated and the rest emulated. We will see. But as you wrote it should be communicated.

Yes it should be communicated much better, where they are, what the main goals are and the main things to do with which priority. Then it becomes obvious why FPU is not top on the list. Many discussions are only there because people do not know or in some cases do not want to know.

I too explained it several times already or at least tried it because even then the same people moaned. But at least the rest would know what is happening and why.

"I never promised that it will have an FPU"

you must read that carefully, I assume people misunderstand it. FPU is on to-do-list but it was never promised that it currently is integrated. Gunnar markets his core as 68080 so people say for that FPU must be included. I think it is a communication problem, Gunnar is a great developer but not a great communicator

I think you wrote that at the start when asking for a kind of survey but perhaps I understood you wrong

As I wrote... Gunnar could and should communicate the goals of the project and current situation

They communicate better than many others but there is still room for improvement. You would need something for people that are not there f.e. lack of time like a blog

Yes it is sold as it is but if you understand the main goals you understand priorities and why they do this or that. If main goal would just be to offer just a new accellerator with compatibility as main goal then decisions would be different. Obviously some people just wanted that.

I think the main misunderstanding is about the goal of gunnars project... it started with natami and natami-like standalone devices always were the main goal, not add-on cards for amigas or more simply new accellerators. If you see that priorities are obvious but of course gunnar could have communicated that better. The FPU exists on its own as I understand but is not integrated in the concept what would need months and delay everything besides limited FPGA resources. The standalone devices already exist and are tested so stopping this for FPU integration would make zero sense.

Markus said that the majority of users want new FPU not AGA

I say the opposite

Gunnar said that AGA integration is very advanced already, that testing needs time and resources are limited. He should have explained that standalone devices are main goal and that they are already testing the hardware. Gunnar added that rightful FPU integration needs months and that this is not highest priority now, he could have added because we do not need it for the standalone devices in opposite to AGA.
