are that pricey components really needed? For 300 Pounds you get here a brandnew desktop already

thanks for information

so yes as I experienced with the 68k branch
distribution maintainers must select the "right nightly" where the software works (without recompilation)

I do not see a big problem there and would recommend the others to concentrate on ABI 1 in future

64bit would be another beast. It certainly needs more efforts than just recompiling so staying on 32bit makes most sense for now

broken means not working at all?

I never recompiled software but tested it with next nightlies and normally software worked again

nice that Kalamatee is active again, at least in forum...

Yes if you look at the situation I would say using the better Abi 1 is best option. I do not think that anyone will ever backport changes to ABI 0 again so it is static and will not improve again

I can only judge from my experiences on 68k (that always was ABI 1). Nightly can change from day to day so it happened frequently that software worked on one nightly, next day not and two or three days later again. As distribution maintainer you cannot rely on a static situation so you must test and select a appropriate nightly. Other than that I think using one ABI makes most sense to me.

thanx

As I understood the separation between ABI0 und ABI1 was done because the frequent changes could break software. On 68k branch I always used ABI1, sometimes software suddenly not worked on a nightly build, next day it worked again. It is a little more testing needed for distribution creators but general it would be best if there would be only one branch. Expecially now that there is no high chance that someone makes all the work to backport changes to ABI 0. What do you think?

what are you offering?

Creating a bounty or doing it yourself?

Bounties without developers taking them mostly fail

as I understand it they are working on a native SAGA driver. Current driver is based on the original driver done by Toni Wilen who admitted that the driver was not very well optimized, simply because not needed when running on UAE
