As the backend administrator of the archives I'd be happy to set up the server to send the files to a ftp mirror if that is something the AROS community wants.

@magorium

Ahh, well, not since 2011 then ;)

[Edit: I decided to regenerated the stats from 2011 and up, and started a cron job that updates it once every day.]

@Ball000

That particular feature isn't activated on the archives. (Never have been iirc).

I added a new statistic page on the aros archives just for the fun of it:

http://archives.aros-exec.org/index.p ... ion=modules/sql/miscstats

PS. The archives will be 10 years old at the end of august, wee ;)

Someone must review it manually. I've checked your upload from the admin interface and it looks fine.

I guess you just have to wait for it to be approved.

There's C bindings available for QT as well as for several other languages. So C++ isn't an absolute requirement.

@Fransexy

Me?

If so then no. I've been advocating for both aw and amigans to stop using polls as there's (On aw since it was about 1 year old, and amigans since its creation. On both as admin.) a lot of naive people out there who thinks that such polls falls anywhere near reality rather than realizing that it's nothing more than a mild amusement.

You can't get a statistically useful result from a small subset of a larger group without examining said group randomly. The group that votes in an online polls are not a random selection from the larger group. On the contrary the voting group are motivated by things like if they care about the topic in the first place, someone asking them to vote in a specific way, if they care about polls at all, where the poll is posted and so forth.

If you want a statically useful result you'd first have to find out what the target group is (as in, all people in the UK) and then select a certain percentage (Like a few thousand people in the UK, randomly selected) of that group to reply to the poll.

Online polls are useless anyway. Asking people on a specific forum to vote on one isn't going to make it any more useful but rather just skew it in another direction.

Such polls are just mild curiosities, don't read too much into them.

Perhaps there could be a button or keyboard hotkey that takes you from the boot screen to the early startup menu.

Should be easy enough to include that and a 1 BPL 8 frame animation of the question mark (y-axis). No need to store the whole image either. Just keep the cat and text in separate bitmaps and copy them to the boot display and then animate the question mark. To keep it smaller still, use 2BPL for the text (for some simple 2 color antialiasing), 4 BPL for the cat and put them in an IFF container to pack it down a bit futher.
