As for Odyssey, Im surprised no-one else has done it yet. I guess my mergers from dec. 2017 mean I have the most advanced Amiga-oid browser around on my harddrive?

I'll see what I can do.
In no way any sort of promise. My efforts will be based soley on seeing what I can merge easily (was the reason for tinkering last time).
I have some knowledge and understanding about these things, but my actual coding skills are pretty limited. Im more a "recompile, but might be able to fix it or might just walk away if something goes wrong" sort of guy

Deadwood is without doubt one of the most skillfull developers in AROS I don't doubt when he say he tried to update the webkit engine to more recent version before the release it was not an easy task + Kas1e (another developer, port Odyssey to OS4) offered in this thread to support this project it is as easy as we could hope.

As we can see from Deadwoods release it is based on 2 different webkit versions. As you also might know the AROS port is based on Fabs MorphoOS versions that he so kindely gave to us. From what I can read out of that Deadwood made some updates but as things got tricky he used Fabs webkit engine and combined them. I'm sure there are more to the enigine that just a simple update and compile. As I was beta tester for Odyssey I had lot's of communication with Deadwood regarding web-sites etc. not working as expected. That means he had to fix, change code, probably do some specific stuff for Amiga or Amiga like systems.

Prove us wrong Beezle and the money is yours :)
Sure would need to be tested before accepted as an actual update.

What we might try to find out is if this is something all camps could benefit from? Could we start a project together as we did with DOpus megellan II.

Regarding the bounty system I'm not inn. It has lot's of flaws and the first and most important is that you look your money to something that might never happen.

Bring a developer inn that will name a price and we try to collect it. That always worked good in the past. I did it with Audio Evolution. The autour of our USB stack, Posseidon did this by making an offer for the port etc.

regarding audio evolution. are the last sources the one in aros archives? the zip seems a bit broken, what concerns potection, and i had to recover files from there manually and also it doesnt seem to compile for aros out of the box, particularly not with the current compilers, which im kinda looking into. imho it would pay tho have the source abi_v1 ready and compilable for all targets inclusive 64bit.

wawa: Are the archive broken? The files I find in the archives are lha? not zip.

Have you tried them?

http://archives.aros-exec.org/share/a ... oevolution4.i386-aros.lha

Sure would be good like you said to have for abi v.1 etc.

@Nikolaos

Sorry, I might have chosen my words poorly. I just meant I'll see just how much I can merge before everything falls apart
Wasnt really offering to take up this work as such, I just want to learn more about the process and fool around.

I've managed to build it successfully with a couple of miniscule changes, so that's something at least

@wawa

I did it late Dec. with sources from from an svn build a month or so prior.

beezle: That is great by the way :) If you manage to compile with some of the more recent code from the web-kit engine it would be nice to try out :)

Indeed - if any beta testing is needed I'd be very happy to contribute.

Cheers,
Nigel.

im not quite sure, you mean last december? the git repo is few years old, and what i mean is actually a branch in the git repo rather than a revision. svn repo probably predates this. i dont know of it. at least once i was up to compile odyssey, krzysztof recommended me to do it upon particular branch, which im not sure which it was anymore. i might have lost these mails.
