It seems so, however it's also using libglade that appears to be non-trivial to port, at least I couldn't get it to build with gtk_mui gtk headers. Is there a libglade AROS port?

http://code.bandit-project.org/trac/b ... bglade/config.sub?rev=730

Look at line 1344. Does this mean something useful to you?

It just means that config.sub script used in libglade knows about existence of AROS operating system. AROS entry is present in this file in libglade official releases. Still no luck with building it, though.

Thanks for your efforts here Stanislaw, I hope the libglade breakthrough is just around the corner. NetSurf will be such a great asset to AROS, and having the GTK version working will (hopefully) mean that upgrading to Netsurf 2 (when available) will be straightforward.

For the Zune/MUI port, would it be easier to adapt the amosiac interface (to get something working quickly) or to start from scratch? You can see news of amosiac working here:
http://aros-exec.org/modules/newbb/vi ... php?topic_id=3009&forum=4
Screenshot of amosiac here:

Whether the GTK or Zune port is completed first doesn't matter to me, it's just great that something is happening with web browsers again.

Stanislaw, yesterday I e-mailed the project admin of libglade GTK2.0 (James Henstridge) to see if he could give us any pointers, I hope you don't mind.

Here's what he said in the reply I got today:
"Looking at that thread, it looks like some kind of GTK compatibility library is being used (gtk-mui) that tries to make the GTK API create widgets from some other toolkit. I doubt that such a library would ever be good enough for use by libglade, since it is tied fairly heavily to GTK's object/property system.

To get libglade working correctly, you'd need a real port of GTK to the new platform (similar to the X11, framebuffer, win32 and OSX ports). That is a significant amount of work though, requiring someone who has good knowledge of both GTK and the target system.
Such a port would probably get a large number of GTK apps working out of the box though.

I am not the best person to help out with this, but you might try asking on gtk-devel-list."

Here's the gtk-devel-list:
http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gtk-devel-list
I had a look to see if anyone mentioned libglade in the mailing list archives, here are the results I got:
http://www.google.com/custom?q=libgla ... sitesearch=mail.gnome.org

If we can't get libglade ported then we'll just have to go down the Zune/MUI route. Has anyone here got experience in creating Zune/MUI interfaces? Are there any tools in the Amiga world that allow MUI/Zune interfaces to be created visually (like creating user interfaces in something like Visual Basic)?

Search for muibuilder. On aros-exec there was somebody
trying a port. Don't know about its state.

ciao

Thanks for the heads-up mausle. Looks like christoph had some success:

Let me say now, if muibuilder works in VmwAROS then I will be willing to help Stanislaw with the Netsurf port by doing the Zune interface.

Sorry guys, it looks like I won't port NetSurf to AROS. I found killing aliens way more fun. But during the rare moments when a pile of alien cadavers is high enough to block the corridor and give me a moment of peace, I managed to do something else.

THIS is great news!!!!! Now imagine if AROS could get support from all the different amiga camps... A cooperation towards a kick ass browser! Now THAT would finally be some progress for the amiga community.

@sszymczy
Great work! I hope you will get OWB stable for AROS, and can I please ask for support for customs screens too?
