Hi,

after trying different netbooks, I followed clusterUKs and nikolaos suggestion to get an AAO (A)150. As the Acer Aspire One A150 has an international Keyboard and not really available here in Germany, I thought go for the "german" version D150....
But to sum it up, it is a totally different kettle of fish (that's how you say it in english isn't it ???).
Most of the D150 donnot even have an Atheros Wlan init, they all use different HD Soundchips and LAN Chips. Roughly you can categorize into 2 differen flauvors:

1) old production batch with longlife (6 hour) battery and mostly Atheros 5007EG/5001 in it.

2) newer production batch, only having normal battery (3 hours) and most of the time Broadcom Wlan in it...

Best thing is to go via ebay or similiar, because thats the only place where people can tell you what sort of chips are init... you can always replace a WLan Mini PCIe card with an Atheros 5xxx one (I just got a spare one for 4€).

The D150 I have, is from old production batch:
1) Graphic: Intel GMA900 (Netbook/iMica) = WORKS
2) WLan: WinXP states AR5007EG/AROS states AR5001 = WORKS
3) Sound: had Interrupt 51 problem, which was fixed by Davy Wentzler right away (thanks for that...) BUT: External jacket (Headphone/external Speakers) did not work ! Davy Wentzler fixed that as well (O.k. he needed some more arguments to do the work... The resulting audiodriver is not released yet, but I think clusteruk/Steve will act very soon on that... = WORKS
4) LAN: = DOESN'T WORK (but I have Wlan anyway)
5) SATA: = problems with FAT32 but FAT works like a charm. (Those problems are probably not related to SATA anyway !) = WORKS

hope this helps some people...

greetings Gerograph

Just to avoid confusion, when the HDaudio driver reports something like 'interrupts: 51' after pressing the 'test sound' button in AHI prefs, you're actually in luck and have a high chance of it working. If not, then you're in real trouble and I can't help you!

What I fixed (aside from the headphone/speaker issue) was the speaker node detection. On your machine, my old code detected your digital in node (an internal feature probably) as the speaker out, which has been corrected.

@goldfish
Well short:
use 208.67.220.220 as secondary DNS
donnot use DHCP
switch of WEP for testing... (therefor switch of security)
what happens if you type "WirelessManager atheros5000.device" into a shell ?
study the WLan thread carfully, especially the last 3 pages
wlan driver testing

greetings Gero
