I have seen in the wikibooks page that the SiS 7012 chipset is supported for AC97 audio, however in my old laptop i have a built-in SiS 7018; are the two chipsets compatible and therefore just need to add indexes in the driver (pity i dont know how to do it) or thay are pretty different?

I've always thought the SIS AC97 chips should work with our driver, but I didn't think the IDs were included. Do you have a link to that page?

Yes, I see that that SIS chip's IDs are in the driver, but no other SIS chips. If you tell me the IDs for your chip, I'll compile a test version for you when I get a chance.

I have 7012 in my machine. It works 1/2 - meaning it only sends signal to one speaker :D

Instead, you can boot from the CD as far as the early boot menu (hold down space bar), then remove the CD and insert the USB stick and click on boot.

hope it works, since that laptop has an OHCI USB controller recognized even by platon42 as "buggy"; it not even recognize usb devices with the live cd.... Saimon69
