Ive now tested the following myself -:

CMI8738.audio

Vend: 0x13F6 Dev: 0x0111 Rev: 0x10 - CMI8738/PCI-SX (FT8738-4E)

Both work well, except for the problem with hifi mode.

SB128.audio

Well, as mentioned, with my soundcard I'm still dependent on running sashimi in parallel. Just tested again with Sept. 14 Nightly's files.

Nightlies probably have debug enabled. You can always try building it yourself and disable debug, or use the version from IcAROS (etc) which should have it disabled.

Just in case it's of any value, here the debug output (beginning truncated, furthermore just non-redundant parts pasted).

In general, output starts the very moment AHI Prefs are opened. Then I played the test sound and closed AHI Prefs again (debug output, once started, continues until reboot).

Silly me! When just editing my GRUB config, I noticed that I had debug=serial set there... Without, music is playing nicely on my CMI8738 sound card. Thanks!

I donated lately to this bounty, but now I wonder what is still missing to finish the bounty? What is the current status of the driver? Does the dev expected more donations? I think the latter could be solved, but first I'd like to hear some news please.

If its in the nightlies - it doesn't seem to work in VMware? I still just seem to get noise.

Also, werent the bounties just to get the code into AROS's repository? I had thought the money was paid long ago and just the page hadn't been altered to reflect it *shrug*

Yes, it's been in the nightlies for a few days, v5.27. I haven't tried it in VMWare, but neither mode works in Qemu. It only works on my real card.
