MAME - Unsupported CHD Version

I've been experimenting with MAME now that I have a machine fast enough to play many of the games I wanted to play at full speed.

(Golden Axe - Revenge of Death Adder. Elevator Action Returns, The Crystal of Kings)

As far as the games mentioned above, everything has been grand, though when it comes to CHD games such as Area 51 or Gauntlet Legends I keep getting the error:

"Unsupported CHD version."

I looked this up and found many forums discussing this, and according to the forums (assuming your MAME is up to date) all you have to do is delete all files related to the game from the DIFF and CFG directories, then if that does not work they suggest running CHDMAN like so:

CHDMAN - update oldrom.chd newrom.chd

Sadly CHDMAN is telling me the same thing:

"Unsupported CHD version."

According to the forums my version of MAME and CHDMAN are out of date.

Anyone else having these problems?

Im not as up on MAME as I once was, but could it be a case of the data files you have being newer versions than AROS MAME supports? They have changed roms sets over the years on a handful of occasions, but Im not sure if its happened since 1.13 (which is what aros port is based around).

If that is the case...

It would be easier to have Mame updated than for someone to find chd files that are out of date enough...

Besides, CHD files ain't exactly tiny. We're talking 1Gb a piece here.

Anyhow, CHDMAN is supposed to be the tool to fix such problems, but even it hates my chd files. :/

On a side note, I did get Star Wars Trilogy to run. It isn't fully supported with this version of Mame, but it's close!!!
