hello

do the bounty open for the conclusion of wandered and zune, can we say that the development of it is over? or is there anything else to do ?, I'm happy with the work done by the whole community up to now and I'm happy to have a stable and functional system, I remember when I started aros for the first time many years ago :), now we can also play a doom 3 and use native applications and resort to janus when needed, I know you are working for abiv1, good job

thank you very much

I will do one final release of AspireOS for abi v.0. At least I think it is final release. Remember this is open source world. People are free to do what they like. Let's say abi v.1 is not finished in years from now and someone like to update stuff in v.0 meenwhile as it is what is standard for users. Remember the Distributions of AROS like Icaros and AspireOS is not only about the OS but all the programs with it and configurations, look etc. Still plenty of space for improvement and changes there.

Regarding changes to AROS itself it's been years where abi v.0 not been used by the developers but it was a time where Deadwood did a huge backport of changes from abi v.1 to abi v.0 but that is maybe 2 years ago.

yes, however, I understand that the external scene aros, all the programmers are focused on abiv1 and I think it must be so, if for them is a better thing I rely on their experience, currently abiv0 is our lifebuoy, without it we will not have anything, it works and the third-party programmers have it as a point of reference for the moment.

And this will also not change soon. At least I highly doubt it.

if a 3rd party coder/distribution maintainer wants to use ABIv1, you are told to not to do so, as long it's not a fixed ABI. With the whole ABIv0/ABIv1 mess you only reach one thing... scare away coder and user.

just my 2cent

ALB42: It is cause it is broken from time to time and you need to compile again. This is what is talked about in other thread. At once abi v.1 is a stable branch and will not be broken again developers can use it. You simply have to wait.

I wait since... hmm 2012? I first time checked about ABIv1 to support it in FPC, because I got a "warning" that soon ABIv0 will be obsolete and all my work will be useless, because all distributions will switch to ABIv1. So I should soon include ABIv1 support to FPC.
In principle the situation did not change since this time.

I understand that you only can make the clean cut/switch if the ABI is fixed... that means there are open work to do which breaks the ABI (the wiki has some overviews about it) the Problem, there is no real work/decisions done since ages.
And I'm not sure if there is someone left as AROS developer who could and is willing to do this work.

Sorry about my pessimistic view.
