linux hosted icaros ?

Hi,

As I explained on another topic, I don't have a dedicated hard drive for aros anymore. So the only solutions I've got to follow the project are the Icaros live cds, or the linux hosted Aros nightly build.

But live cd is not very practical, and aros nightly build are too complex to use...

I tried to install a nightly build, then replace the files with the icaros ones. But it does not work.

Anyone could help me to create a linux hosted Icaros, or maybe Paolo could make a linux histed version of his distribution ?

I think, behind my own problem, that it should be a good idea for linux people who want to try Aros, since in theory it very easy to use and very fast (I tried the linxu hosted nightly build, it is A WAY faster than a virtual box virtual machine aros...).

Thanks,

Dimitri

Icaros hosted

I've copied those files from aros/hosted into Icaros:

boot/aros-unix
AROS.boot

Devs/Keymaps/X11/Keycode2rawkey.table

Then I'ved removed in s:icaros-sequence the line "assign system: sys:"

Icaros is missing tap.device, so copy it over from Hosted.

I've set networking like:
tap.device
Manual
Gate: 192.168.0.1

Do you already know that you have to enable TAP on the Linux side? If not, ask.

You might already know it but as your screenshot shows only 9MB ram: you can give AROS/hosted more RAM with the "-m" option, e.g. "boot/aros-unix -m 500".

I have this problem only when I start AROS with too few RAM. Take care that there must be a space between "-m" and the value.
