Hello everyone!
I've done what i promised. I built it. http://rapidshare.com/files/412507342 ... 0812-mingw-x86_64.tar.bz2 I don't have any 64-bit machine to try it on. It is a cross-build under 32-bit Windows. I hope i did it all right. P.S. Before running it make sure that data execution protection is turned off on your machine. I don't know its default state on 64-bit Windows. AROS is still no friend to this feature (will be implemented together with memory protection). P.P.S. Don't cry!!! Don't send curses if it doesn't work. This is maximum i can do, it's just for interest. I just want to know if this can work at all. If it's somehow okay i'll go on with ARM build. Windows CE requires a bit more hacking because it doesn't have notion of current directory (AROS relies on it in order to find its root).

I'll test it as soon as possible.
One question though, do one need a MingW install, and does it have to be 64bit? Ah, that seems to be two questions. Is that all right? ![]()

Sonic,
I tried with Windows 7 x64 and it crashes. The report that Windows issues has the following information: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BEX64 Application name: AROSBootstrap.exe Application version: 0.0.0.0 Stamp Date / Time of Application: 4c63ea3b Module Name with Failures: StackHash_7194 Module Version with Failures: 0.0.0.0 Stamp Date / Time Module with Fault: 00000000 Misuse of Exception: 0000000002340040 Exception code: c0000005 Data Exception: 0000000000000008 OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1 Region ID: 2070 Additional Information 1: 7194 Additional Information 2: 71946bf3fd8e4f1783de7c77c57910d3 Additional Information 3: bef9 Additional Information 4: bef909193e554f00fba57a7b7b9ac1fa One other thing, I tried to disable DEP for the AROSBootstrap executable, but Windows says you can't defime DEP attributes for 64-bit executables. So I disabled it all together.

It's DEP error. Looks like DEP cannot be turned off for 64-bit software and this setting affects only WoW emulator.
Very interesting... Can you run AROS from console? I want to know exactly what it prints and where it stops. If i'm correct, i'll delay the port until i implement memory protection (this will automatically make friendship with DEP). If not... I don't know then. Will think... P.S. Just completed reading "Data execution prevention" chapter in MSDN, it proves my guess. On 64 bits DEP is always on and this can't be changed.

What about fixing the random crashes of the 32 bit version to begin with ? (I had to restart AROS around 15 times in order to compile protrekkr).
The AROSbootstrap (which doesn't have a .exe suffix in latest versions) doesn't even run anymore.

Windows hosted would be very useful once it have network, sound and faster graphic driver.
I for one would donate some cash for such a bounty!

2 hitchhickr: huh, to tell the truth i didn't know about these problems. No one ever told me about them until now.
As to random crashes, on my machine they are extremely rare. I'm still researching this. As to AROSBootstrap, have you tried renaming it? I'm sorry for this stupid bug, this is already fixed. BTW, i implemented memory protection and DEP friendliness. Compiling another 64-bit version to try out...

New 64-bit version, DEP-aware. Should go further :)
