I've compiled a list of some of the achievements made over the past year. It's been an outstanding year for AROS - I think the best I've ever seen.

Thanks to all the people on this list, and all of the people who've written apps and other things that aren't mentioned. I know that I'll have missed something huge or wrongly attributed some work. Let me know so I can change it and if it's ok with authors, I'll post the list elsewhere. Thanks again for all this!

Merry Christmas,
Chris

Some very nice 3D games where ported.

My favorite this year I must say was MAME updated by yannick :D

@clebin

Nice list

@people - keep the new items comming :)

@clebin - once more people post, would you be interested in editing the list a bit (dividing by sections for example (like hardware support, applications, etc)) and giving it a bit of introduction? I could then post this on www.aros.org as summary of 2010 so that world may know :D

@deadwood

Yes, absolutely. I'd be more than happy to!

If anyone has more suggestions for the summary, do post them.

@nikolaos

Thanks - I'll add Davy's Envy24 driver and Yannick's MAME port now, and look into the games for later.

EDIT: it seems I can edit this, but not the original post, so I'll compile the summary silently...

Chris

This is a good idea Clebin.

I would also like to add YTDL (youtubedownloader) Even if it does not work anymore, one of the most usefull scripts this year.

Also YAM where released first time for AROS in February.

Do we have the source of YTDL? The getvideo script from os4 works again... - just a side note : D

@clebin
The list is wonderful and i am sure next year will be on the same level. Maybe better.

@clebin

Great list. A few nit picks:

1. I didn't improve the ATA driver's speed this year, but I did make the FAT handler a lot faster.

2. Quickstarter dock is mentioned twice.

3. DaveAE == Davy Wenzler (both are mentioned).

4. Toni Wilen did a lot of work on the 68k port too.

Ian also did QuickRecord this year.

And two clocks (DigiClock and ScandalfoClock) were ported by mmartinka.

If Im not mistaken it was Deadwood that did the Nvidia screendragging (it's listed as sonic).
Nice list, but personally I think it looks better to the outside world if only the more interesting/important stuff is listed rather than every single thing for no other reason that if every little thing that was ported, etc. is listed it looks like an attempt to make it look impressive. Not to say it isnt impressive, 2010 was a fantastic year for aros with some great stuff done, but sometimes less is more.
I guess maybe an idea is to go a little overkill in the thread, and edit it to be posted on AROS.org ?

Just my 2 cents :)

I checked repository statistics on number of commits (changes) per year

2008 -> 2502 changes
2009 -> 2069 changes
2010 -> 4096 changes

We did accelerate this year :) I hope we can keep it up 2011!
