I wanted to point the application Rufus for a possible integration AROS ISO, the software is distributed with the source code.

Click to see original Image in a new window

Rufus is a small utility that helps format and create bootable USB flash drives, such as USB keys/pendrives, memory sticks, etc.

Have you tried it and succesfully made an aros bootable usb drive? Otherwise i wouldnt figure out why an Aros Iso should include a windows tool...

Hi amiga,

(i've google-translated your reply, hope you do not mind)

I had already talked about the lack of these drivers, I just wanted to show a good software supplied with springs, then if anyone here is interested and able to do even the drivers, I think the whole community would be happy.

Yes, because it would be easier for outsiders to enjoy AROS in a more generic and easy way

No, because writing these drivers take time which currently developers do not have. Also writing these drivers would take away time from 'current every day development'

Burn a CD or DVD every time you have to try a distro a little disheartening, especially for those approaching for the first time to AROS distro.

Why would someone burn a CD/DVD to try AROS ?

I even do not own such device anymore, yet i run AROS perfectly without CD/DVD player.

There are several solution to that, but the most easy one is by _installing_ AROS onto a USB-pendrive. The easiest way to do that is to boot the .iso in a virtual machine, then insert a USB pendrive, and install AROS onto the pendrive.

You can use whatever computer you want to accomplish that task. It only requires virtualization software to be installed in that machine. Even my single core 1.6 GHZ atom (without hardware virtualization support) is capable of doing this (albeit a bit slow).

Once finished installing, you remove the pendrive from the Virtual Machine, remove the pendrive from your host-OS and insert the pendrive in the machine you want to boot AROS on.

I am aware that not every computer is capable of booting from an USB pendrive, but in that case i also wonder if the computer is even capable of booting of a CD/DVD.

I do believe majority counts concerning this topic. Just run AROS from a USB-pendrive if you want to test it.

PS: for the interrested ones: theoretical it should already be possible to boot aros of a FAT filesystem instead of sfs. If that is a smart thing to do or not, i do not dare to answer .

Hello Magorium, I know all the alternatives, I have all the AROS distro installed on Pendrive, not only on one of the portals of computer science known as Wintrick.it more, in addition to the post the News Software, I spend a lot of topics to AMiGA e AROS. Regarding virtual systems, I do not like to use them, I prefer to use a real system. I hope in the future someone to do these drivers, I think it's an important step, there are now many utilities that manage the ISO and to use the name of AROS is more than beautiful. Now translate the message with Google Translator though is not the greatest understanding.

Hello Paul, lately I have happened to the Flash Drive with a hidden partition, you can delete it safely, I realized with amazement that no traditional software including GParted can not see or delete this partition. After some research I think I've discovered the secret, the partition is not seen by the various OS because it is considered a "Partition CDROM". With the software ChipGenius I first tried the VID and PID that was added on this site, allowed me to find this software used for the creation of the partition CDROM; do you think you could take advantage of this technology to launch and test an ISO AROS from pendriver without burning?

I think if anything, down the road, a HDTools improvement bounty would be in order, though I imagine it would not be an easy feat to create a hard drive tool that was on par with some of the more advanced hard drive and usb drive tools out there such as these.

I plan to run some experiments under MorphOS soon and see if I can safely partition AROS Hard Drives with it. Thus far I have been able to create AROS friendly USB sticks.

Great XDelusion, regarding the software Rufus, yesterday I contacted the author and he said he would be happy to add the ISO AROS in its program, which I believe to be the best for compatibility, convenience and speed to create bootable media with live systems starting ISO images based Windows, Linux, UEFI, but also to flash the BIOS or other firmware from DOS. Another feature of the program is to exploit the remaining part of USB support, handy if you need to copy the software to be tested with the LivePendrive. Another good news is that the author of Amghista Rufus was a happy owner of a great Amiga 500 and Amiga OS estimator.
