Wow, I managed to accidentally miss this thread so far.
Real3d for AROS would be fantastic. Not only do we lack a 3d rendering package, but Real3d is very nice.

A definite customer in waiting (hoping) here.

p.s. by sheer coincidence I've recently compiled a bunch of Real3d tutorials. Would be awesome to be able to release them in an AROS related context.

Is this perhaps something that might be worth bringing attention to the "Amiga ng" community (AROS, MorphOS, os4) at large?
Perhaps it might increase our chances of getting a port.
On one hand the greater number of users and potential customers might be of interest to Readysoft, but on the other hand introducing them to the crazy that can be the Amiga community may be discouraging. :)
The community has the potential to make things happen, but it can also be its own worst enemy. :)

We need to tread carefully so as not to scare away developers of quality software.
Personally my interest is with AROS, but if it will increase the chances of getting a port of Real3d it might be worth bringing to the attention of the entire community.

Another option might be to see if they'd be willing to open the sources for a price, in the same way as Dopus Magelin.

None are genuine suggestions, I'm just after feedback as how to proceed.
I really want this for AROS. :)

AROS + Real3D, yeah!

AROS needs git! I need git!

@juha:
no emacs, but vim, maybe time to switch?
(go to http://archives.aros-exec.org/ and search for "vim")

and for git you might try this setup, which I'm testing right now: AROS can mount SMB shares (and I think NFS might be possible, too), and we have a brand new ssh-client. so you might have git and your git-repo on some other machine, mount the repo via SMB to your AROS, and ssh from AROS to that machine to do the commits etc.

Ok, thanks for the info regarding git and emacs! First source files successfully compiled on aros. A promising start.

Neither git or emacs are installed as they are non existent for AROS.

Emacs is a monster of a text editor and it was never ported to Amiga, there was only Memacs.

Well it has a lot of build in features making editing possible via FTP but many claim it is complex as an OS and I never met someone using it.

Sorry I was wrong
Another search on Aminet uncovered the missing Emacs ports:
