all in all i have just effectively ran odyssey for the first time. previously i was only working on it. and i must say it is a great fun. it is noticeably slower than whatever browser on host of course. but it it definitely usable and it feels slick. very cool software.

just to be sure there is what i am testing with:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AuvzEgbTrkxPgaxrkBXBOQZ35eVS4g
its basically the same as the previous version, just only with some bits of debug compiled in you shouldnt even notice.

after some further browsing i came across one site that didnt load because of certificates and it was bild.de.

i cannot watch youtube videos with it though. the embedded player starts the audio starts to play, but the picture remains black and after a while audio also stops. no crashes though. this of course needs to be investigated. however i would be amazed if this was just working fine out of the box, especially condidering all the codec updates since i dont even know when..

There are no codec updates that need to be considered. Thanks to widespread adoption of hardware video decoding, these things are thankfully very stable.

YouTube videos play just fine with leopard-webkit which utilitizes a version of Quicktime from 2009 or so for video decoding. They also work fine with Odyssey v1.23 from 2013, for instance.

There always been problems with video on the AROS version. I have a feeling it has something to do with synch of video and sound as sometimes I can hit the pause button and play again and then the video plays fine.

Odyssey is not slow at all compared to other browsers. It is more a matter of using native gfx drivers that will speed scrolling etc. up a lot.

wawa: sorry to say but same problem as before with your latest link. I will try latest night build to see if that change anything.

Tested yours ISO and the problem remains to me:

- How did you install the fonts (installer requires Echo volume)?
- In Nightly Build you added that library or other?

- For Video try to pause the movie and then resume the vision, in the past I solved this way

- About VMware i always said it was one of the best solutions to test AROS.

If there was a developer willing to accelerate Cairo and / or implement GPU acceleration for CSS animations, that would be worth supporting for sure.

I downloaded the latest Nightly Build (20180614) and now OWB works, as i imagined in the previously tested systems there was something wrong.

On VMware you can use both NAT that Bridged, both modes work.

Question: someone knows where I can find Sashimi for ABI-v1?

i tried to run latest 1.25 odyssey froma aros archives within aros i386 abi v0 mingw hosted but it complains of not having 52 version of jfif library. so i cant confirm how it behaves and if that plays youtube. thats certainly worth investigating. people could review my changes for instance. maybe with your assistance that gets solved sooner or later.

@amiga

so now videos play for you as well? i can only get sound. perhaps its the matter of pixel format being used. maybe also ffmpeg should be reviewed and eventually updated. i have already started looking at it and also to actually enable that simple mui gui we have for it somewhere, especially in order to test it outside of odyssey.
