Further investigations on 64bit hosted icaros makes me think, memory allocation is absolutely buggy. Look at that error and the % free memory on top.

Icaros was started with -m 1024

It appears to only show the free "chipmem". There is an issue in the memory allocation on hosted, but that is fixed (or should be) on ABI v1.

I've attached an archive with some bug-fixed components:
- emul-handler: fixes crash when opening "Host:" drive.
- alsa.audio: fixes crash when libasound2 (i386) isn't installed on the host.
- x11gfx.hidd: fixes a race condition that may cause crashes at startup.

Just been catching up and wanted to confirm I'm not seeing the crash when I open the host folder now.

But now onto the next crash!

So I noticed that if i go to 'Host' or 'Home' I'm not seeing my files (to be expected) so I select that I want to see 'All Files'. I then see all files, again as expected. So I 'Snapshot All' but it does not save. As soon as I close the window and open it again, I have to repeat the 'View All'

I figure maybe this is a quirk of looking at a hosted file system so maybe it's fair enough. Instead then I go to 'SYS:Prefs' and run Wanderer prefs.

Here are my steps:
- Prefs
- Wanderer
- Appearance
- Drawer / Advanced
- Default View Mode
- Change to 'All Files'
- Click 'Use'

Immediate result Software Failure as per attached screenshots.

After a little investigation (not much I've been very tied up with work), it seems this is not unique to Icaros hosted but also all of the Aros hosted versions I've built myself too.

So I'm wondering if it might be something with Ubuntu 17.10 or my system in particular. Not sure what extra info might be helpful here?

built today i386 abi v1 linux hosted and cant reproduce. out of interest also tried with m68k. same result.

have you run wanderer prefs from icon? if you ran it from shell it might not receive enough stack. you can set the amount of default stack in advance with a stack command (number of bytes). an icon usually contains a field that sets amount of stack if program is ran from workbench.

I'm running it from the icon. I just checked and stack is set to 8192 in the icon. I upped it to 32768 just randomly and it still dies. This was on my ABI_v1 x86_64 build from Kalamatee's recent build system changes just because I had it loaded.

There is something seriously strange with my system!!

mmm. im not sure.. its worth investigating. it might be platform dependent. especially things like this dispatcher stuff.

i dont have 64bit target building here, let alone 64bit linux host to try the 64bit nightly. and im not sure who else is currently building and testing it at all, if not kalamatee or neil.

perhaps someone can test it for us?
