Ciao @paolone,

------------

Version 2.2 available, to update run the updater or, from HFinder, hit the Info button and then hit the update button.

New features:
- Added a switch to enable/disable case sensitive searches
- Added a button to open location of selected files, unfortunatly OpenURL call does not work on AROS, on windows it works just fine.
- Added console mode, here are all supported arguments:

-search pattern
pattern = pattern to search, default = * (all files)

-casesensitive 1|0
1 = Case sensitive, 0 = Insensitive, default = 1

-recursive 1|0
1 = Recursive search, 0 = Recursive search off, default = 0

-from starting_directory
Where to start the search, default = current directory

-output filename
Saves the search results on the given file name or print the results to the console

-quite 1|0
1 = No console activity, 0 = Print to the console the results and few informations, default = 0

-ansi 1|0
1 = Enable ANSI codes, 0 = Plain text

-helpme
Shows a brief help like this one

About the executable name:
Since I've to manage all my builds from one place the executable name will be hfinder_aros_x86 to avoid confusion (on my build side) until I will find another way to handle automatic updates.

If you have any suggestion about opening a drawer window calling a command, an arexx call ar something else let me know so I can update hfinder :)

Hi Allanon, renaming the files after downloading them wouldn't do the trick?

----------------------------------

Ok Allanon, la v2.2 HFinder is greatly improved, open the path of the selected file is perfect, if I'm being picky it would be nice to find the file also highlighted in the folder-path.

In the Windows version there is one small problem, that was not present in version 2.1, HFinder closes if it encounters a folder "not own" type the "System Volume Information", It resolves becoming the folder owners.

You're looking for workbench.library's OpenWorkbenchObject() function: you just need to provide the path to the drawer as the first argument and it will be opened for you. For example in C this gives:

OpenWorkbenchObject("SYS:Prefs", TAG_DONE);

Allanon, don't kill me

I'm very happy for the console mode, which is damn good using the shell. But I just would have loved a shell option to set the starting directory to search in, using the GUI. In a nutshell, just think about this:

you enter
hfinder -from SYS:Pippo/Pluto -GUI

and the GUI opens with path "SYS:Pippo/Pluto" instead of "SYS:" in the search from field.

Is that possible?

kind regards

@Ball000
I'm coding in Hollywood so I don't have access to libraries calls... and I don't have the skill to write something in C that can help with this problem

@paolone
So, if you use

hfinder blabla -gui

the application should open as usually but with the fields pre-filled with the given informations? Is that right?
Do you want the search to start automatically or do you want the user to hit the start-search button?

I don't know if this can help, but HFinder can remember the last searched path and pattern.

Anyway if you confirm that I've understood your request I will implement it.

I've also found a way to have the executable named "hfinder" as you requested, I'm testing right now if it is working as expected :)

Version 2.3 available

To update run the updater or, from HFinder, hit the Info button and then hit the update button.

At the end of the update you will have the HFinder program named... hfinder :P
You can get rid of the old version deleting it, from now on the name will be hfinder.

What's New:
- Changed the update system so that each platform has the HFinder executable named HFinder instead of HFinder_platform_architecture. Due to this new mechanism, when the updater update itself the procedure may be restarted automatically.
- Fixed the bug reported by amiga, now inaccessible directories will be skipped during the scan process.
- Small adjustments in the updater window.

OK I understand. I was assuming that Hollywood did let you use shared libraries functions indeed, my bad (I don't use Hollywood)... Perhaps though it lets you launch a Shell command in some way? If so you can launch C:WBRun with the path to the drawer you want to open. In other words, you need to let Hollywood run this command for example:

WBRun SYS:Prefs
