So, if you use

hfinder blabla -gui

the application should open as usually but with the fields pre-filled with the given informations? Is that right?

Yes.

My goal is implementing a more appealing search-for-file function in Icaros' GUI when using Magellan. The button would open Hfinder in the path of current lister.

Do you want the search to start automatically or do you want the user to hit the start-search button?

This would make sense if the pattern or name file is specified. So, my guess is that if user specifies a pattern or a file name to search, the search should start automatically. Otherwise, as in my case, not, because the program would open in a specified path, but user would still have to insert the file or pattern to search for.

Version 2.4 available

As usual to update run the updater or, from the about window, click the update button.

Change Log:

- AROS can now open parent windows of the selected results (thanks to Ball000)
- Added support for the -gui switch.

Here is an excerpt from the readme file:

-gui
If -gui switch is used HFinder GUI will be opened and all specified fields (-recursive, -casesensitive, -search, -from) will be used to pre-fill HFinder fields and settings. If -search is specified the search process will be started automatically otherwise the user will need to hit the search button by hand.

@Paolone
Is that ok? :)

@amiga
Builds for the other platforms will be released as soon as we reach a stable release :)

@all
So using WBRun, as suggested by Ball000, works just fine, I know that AmigaOS4 and MorphOS have this command too, but what about AmigaOS3? Any tricks like this one? :D

OpenWin seems to do such a trick but I would not be surprised if it needed OS 3.5. You'll need to test.
I'm not sure if this WBRun is able to open a drawer, though it runs programs from workbench mode from the CLI. Definitely worth a test too, and it is happy with earlier OSes, though it requires the supplied parm.library.

2) If a deep search on a volume full of folders and files, and can cancel the search (ESC not tow Research)
