Someday, I hope Aros will handle all of my emulation needs.
edit:
I like the rendering video using 4 cores.

People have talked about it but personally I have no interest in it - it doesn't really help us fix the problems encountered in a native environment, or even emulate them.

I see, just wandered if it would make its way over to Hosted.

AROS64 smp almost boots here on two different i5 machines. I get "UNHANDLED EXCEPTION 56" as the cores are brought up but with bit of waiting they are all "processed" but it all hangs with the same "UNHANDLED EXCEPTION 56" message after the pci tree is browsed for interrupts. Don't know if more waiting would result in a successful boot or not.

I have another multicore pc that I could try it on that is not i5 machine (Lenovo M73 tiny with g3220t)

Hi Dizzy - are you able to capture serial debug at all (especially with sysdebug=all) so we can see exactly where it is occurring?

I've just tried the 24.3.17 smp build on my desktop & laptop (both Intel Core 2, one 6400 and the other T5600). No boot on either I'm afraid - it initally gets to [KERNEL] 48: ..., it waits for about 10 s and then runs through more output to [KERNEL] 48: ... again, and then the CD drive powers down.

Cheers,
Nigel.

Edit: Just tried on an Intel Celeron N2840 machine - crashes out quickly from the kernel messages back to grub. The messages flash on and off too quickly to really follow, but I think the last message is something along the lines of 'leaving 32 bit mode'.

Edit2: I've just tried, for comparison, the normal 64bit ABI1 build from 23.3.17 on the Core 2 laptop - and it's hanging at the same place [KERNEL] 48: ...) It only shows this once though - I guess with the smp version it's once per core...

Sorry for the late response. I'll try today if possible what sort of output I can get from those machines that has serial port. (That said if I can find a suitable cable to go with them...)

Great - but please make sure you use as up to date code as possible since we don't wont to be chasing down ghosts ;D

Also we know there are still separate issues where it can lock up in certain circumstances and will be fixing it at some time in the near future.
