First run Icaros (xmas edition) hosted on ubuntu

I installed hosted on ubuntu. Had to install libxxf86vm1:i386 as it was failing to run.

Now when I run it, it tells me it's the first time and offers to install. I choose full installation. It shows it is copying files for a while and after a while it stops doing anything, the last line says

tablemodfixprop copied.

Do I need to wait, or is something failing here?

See screenshot, with terminal open on the right side.

Thank you for your help. I would love to be able to get it running hosted.

Computer: toshiba satellite L755 laptop
Host OS: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS (64 bits)

It looks like it has crashed .. though its hard to tell why (looks like it could be the sound driver?)

Thank you. It could be. When I run it from the CD, it works, but when I try to run a demo (the classic bounce demo), it can't allocate sound and the demo crashes.

:(

You could always try choosing the "void" driver in AHI prefs, but you will get no sound. It should at least let the things run without crashing unless there is some other problem causing it.

But, can that be set before booting? - Remember I'm running it hosted.

Thank you for any insights.

In case you haven't already, read this.

Also remember that you're running a 32 bit application while your host is 64 bit.

The installer simply can't take every configuration/setup out there into account.

Origami, that info is outdated. We do have alsa driver now! We should now understand why it's not working.

@paolone:
Does your script install alsa drivers on TS' computer for him ?

If not then there's your answer

... and to elaborate on that, link might perhaps be outdated (thanks for the warning btw) but the principle is the same. Do a search for unable to load libasound.so.2 and find a good site that tells how to install alsa correctly on your distro.

Origami, yes. My scripts also install alsa driver ON AROS. Problem is in his LINUX installation and there is very little i can do about that.

Ok, let me rephrase what i wrote above:

Does your script install alsa drivers on TS' host OS ? (answer = no)

If not then there's your answer (oh dear, it has to be installed manually).

... and to elaborate on that, link might perhaps be outdated (thanks for the warning btw) but the principle is the same. Do a search for unable to load libasound.so.2 and find a good site that tells how to install alsa correctly on your distro host operating system (and keep in mind that you are running a 32-bit application in 32-bit userspace).
