Thanks. For those complaining about the icons, you might tell them that we don't have permission to use the other icon sets that are usually suggested.

There's also the fact that the icons & wanderers settings are aimed at higher resolution displays so of course they won't look great used in old lores/non interlaced display modes.

Really good to see this interest from the Vampire team and positive comments over on Amigaworld.

I'm about to have a spare A1200 motherboard (it's currently running our central heating system, but its hard drive keeps throwing up errors so I've been motivated to finally get on with replacing it with a fanless x86 AROS box), so I think I'll keep a lookout for the promised A1200 version.

Cheers,
Nigel.

Great news Wawa! I'm glad that AROS 68k is now working on the new accelerator cards. I'd like to test the speed and stability myself on my V500 V2+ that has recently arrived.

I'm currently writing some small icon programs for AROS. It may be possible to address the icon set issue as well. More later on that.

i have been preparing simple lower res 4-8 color iff imagery/theme, not far with it, but promissing. might be nice samme for low res and true color.

what i dont like, is that when i use certain default os palette it gets converted to true color and thern remapped back anyway, which leads to colors being off and loss of color keying transparency. so i postponed it..

Will AROS 68k be able to use 5bitplane (32 color) and 8bitplane (256 colors)? How about 8bit PNG icons.

certainly. look at your screenmode prefs tool. you can set your planar screen depth just as accustomed on amiga, only overscan is missing.

for a basic icon set id extremly limit color depth though. magicwb is fine with 8 colors. one can even work with 2.

both png and iff works. i have not tested other formats, but i guess everything there is a datatype or lib for is working.

id recommend iff for amiga though, even though it gets remapped to true color anyway..

OK, i have you seen writing this for a couple of times now. Although i have to admit not knowing what happens on 68k, this is certainly not the case for aros i386.

So, where do you got that notion from ?

This is output from a traditional magicwb icon:

Nice output data! What program did you use to output the icon data? Just curious. Thanks.
