Mouse sync in Janis emulator

When I am running an emulated desktop, Workbench, Wanderer 68k, AmigaOS, etc., whether it be in a windows or full screen, the mouse becomes out of sync with the "real mouse" and it becomes harder, if not impossible to click on the right thing.

Also, when I run Aros 68k, I just get a blank grey screen and have to (aros key + tab) to stop Janis or it'll just sit there. No mouse or anything.

In terms of the mouse synchronisation, is the Janus daemon running on the emulated OS and the 'Mouse sync' button checked in Janus' synchronisation tab?

Cheers,
Nigel.

When running "Workbench" from the AmiStart menu, the mouse is synced until I run something that runs full screen, then when the program is exited, the mouse is terribly out of sync. When I run "Wanderer 68k, there is absolutely no sycronization whatsoever. If I run "Aros 68k", or "AmigaOS", there is no desktop at all. just a mouse pointer, grey desktop and the titlebar on top that says "Workbench" in which nothing can be clicked on and must be exited from Janis.

Also, mouse sync is running when I run "Workbench". But not for others.

there are problems with mouse emu on fs-use or similar i think. with fs-uae my solution was to insert this line into the config file:
automatic_input_grab = 0
sure, its a bit inconvenient to have two mouse pointero on ths screen, but you can use a real machine as well. or winuae..

My install is on a real machine. Where would I put that in Janis?

I just circumvent the whole issue by starting up an OS3.1 emulation session on its own screen, Workbench and all. Sure, you don't get to run the 68k applications in windows side-by-side with native AROS ones, but it's easy enough just to flip back and forth between Wanderer and Workbench via Left-command m. And no issues with mouse sync - you just see the one pointer, although on occasion jumping back to the Wanderer you may find the pointer is in an inconvenient position and you end up clicking on something you didn't want to (like a close window button...) Also, the emulation is noticeably quicker when not running the synchronisation features.

With no disprespect to paolone's work on the Icaros sccrips, I like to use my own settings for Janus - I know what works well for my machines and like to keep it that way. That also extends into the emulated environment; it's basically a copy of what I had for my old A1200, with all the specific hacks and tweaks that I'd accumulated for it over the years. So it works in a way I'm comfortable with, and the lack of an integrated, seamless experience is pretty immaterial to me.

Cheers,
Nigel.

In the directory of janus-uae there is a pdf where it explains what to do for mouse synchronization and more.
