I'm happy to report the Logitech K400 Plus TV wireless keyboard and touchpad combo works very well with AROS We could have used our current PS2 keyboard and thumbstick combo, but it's showing it's age - the thumbstick only works when it wants to...

Cheers,
Nigel.

@ntromans

I am glad that you've found a combo that works good with AROS.

Hi Nigel. Regarding onboard HDAudio, can you tell me more about what happens and what you've tried.

I looked up this motherboard and found that the audio codec is a Realtek ALC887 (ID 10ec:0887). This has no special handling in the driver, although similar part numbers do (e.g. ALC888). You may already know, but it's worth restating that the codec ID is separate from the controller ID listed in PCITool.

Hi Neil,
Many thanks for looking into this. I've tried the following:

(1) Boot with no modifications to Icaros install - no audio found, AHI just lists 'Void'.

(2) Boot with 'Query' added to HDaudio config file - same as (1).

(3) Boot with vendor and product ids added to HDaudio config file (taken from PCI tool) - system freezes immediately on starting AHI prefs or trying to play a sound, needing a full reset.

Cheers,
Nigel.

Edit: Typo fixed.

Yes, the controller IDs from PCITool do need to be added to the config file if not present (they were probably missing because they're too new). What are these IDs by the way? EDIT: also, does the controller look like it has a proper IRQ assigned?

PS For others looking for tips on HDAudio, the keyword to be added is "QUERY", not "QUERTY"

Thanks for spotting the stupid typo! It's now fixed in the original post. I'll check the machine for the ids tomorrow - it's connected to the TV which the family are currently watching, so it havel need to wait until I can get a few moments to boot it.

Cheers,
Nigel.

Hi Neil,
The ids for the audio are 0x8086/0x2284. It's on IRQ 10 (A), which it shares with the xHCI controller. I've checked in the BIOS and found there is no option there to change the set IRQs, aside from those for the serial, parallel and PS2 ports, which are not the same as those used by the audio.

Cheers,
Nigel.

Hi Nigel, I've added a fix to the HDAudio driver for a lot of recent Intel controllers. Maybe it will help you. I've attached the new version here.

Attach file:

audio hdaudio.audio Size: 37.36 KB; Hits: 30

Many thanks! I don't know if I'll get a chance to try it this evening but I will report back at some point next week.

Cheers,
Nigel.

No luck I'm afraid - without the ids in the hdaudio config list hdaudio is still not picked up (query or not) and with the ids added as soon as AHI prefs is invoked the machine locks up.

Cheers,
Nigel.
