Deadwood gone and now Kalamatee. Seams like almost the end of AROS :(

Take care Kalamatee. I think that AROS got to much of your attention. Be sure to find a job and maybe after things settle a little you will come back. With your tallent and all that you know it should be plenty of jobs.

I also know from myself AROS took lots of my attention. On the possitive side I learned a lot from AROS.
For that I'm thankfull. I think you took it too far my friend. It became an obsession and everything else came second. At least that is what it almost did to me even if I'm not a coder.

I hope you get your life back together and in the future you might look at AROS as a place where you learned a lot and slowly you might come back at a slower pace.

All the best to you, your kids and family
Nikos

If anybody deserves a chunk of the AROS Development Fund it's Kalamatee. There must be a way to help out...

Kalamatee, find cheap place to put your stuff. Then get some traveling support from https://www.gov.uk/claim-benefits-abroad/jobseekers-allowance . I know that you got already job offer in Germany, with that money you can go there. Also my employer is seeking skilled Java or C# coder in Finland. If interested, pm me. We also have office in Netherlands so after sort while, moving to there could be possibility.

This is very sad news on all sorts of levels. I'd be very happy to contribute if that will help, but I guess we do need more information - how much would make a difference, what's the best way to deliver that and is that what Kalamatee wants?

Cheers,
Nigel.

For the time being, I decided to pledge what I'm getting from Icaros patreon page. It's not much, but it's better than nothing. I hereby ask everyone here to start pledging something to Kalamatee as well. If everyone of us would be so kind to donate at least 20$, it would be easy to reach some hundreds. 20 dollars should make no one poor, but might help a friend who donated us so much of his time and passion.

What sad news

In case it is the last that Nick is able to read for the time being then I thank him for all his support that he has offered many of us (including myself). I would be a great loss for us on both a personal level and for AROS.

Take care Nick and we wish you all the best.

I've seen some questions on other boards raised as of the importance of someone like Nick for AROS. Although my presented links are not updated for the last few months, i would advise to have a look at his commits which for example can be read here (don't forget to press next to see all 38 !! pages). And that is only with regards to the main AROS tree... his name also pops up in ports and contrib.

This is probably the biggest question. Some people don't like taking hand-outs from others. But if the situation is that dire, I don't see why he wouldn't.

I wouldn't consider getting paid for hard work a handout.
