It's not only possible but also very easy. Create a new virtual machine, create a HD for it, 8GB is way enough, add the CD ISO as a CD-ROM, boot from it and follow the instructions.
I never had issues with it, sharing network allows you to mount a windows share in AROS to easily exchange files.

Here's a good setup that I use for Vbox:

* 1 CPU core (2 can be used if desired)
* 2GB RAM (if you can spare it; 1GB is also okay)
* 8GB HDD as mentioned by Yannickescu
* 128MB video RAM
* Use SB16 as emulated sound system (AC '97 also works)

Sorry to nitpick, but there's no advantage to using more than one core (unless you're using the experimental SMP build of AROS) or more than 8MB of video RAM. It's also sometimes necessary to specify an older chipset such as PIIX3.

On my virtualbox installation mplayer plays well with two cores but not with one. With one core mplayer plays only stuttering, at least on my machine.

How do I go about changing the screenmode for one that is suitable for a laptop (1366 x 760, or whatever)?
