Hello, today's post on IcarosDesktop.org is all about a very interesting program I found on MorphZone.

http://vmwaros.blogspot.it/2017/11/a- ... -bring-folio-to-aros.html

Folio is a full-featured word processor running inside the OWB browser. The app, however, runs from the local hard drive and does not need a Internet connection to work. This means you can also include your pictures, import your texts and so on, and save your documents to your drive. PDF export and PS printing are supported as well.

Very nice looking application. I wonder why it runs in the browser instead of as a standalone? Either way it looks good. The more useful applications for Icaros, the better!!

Very nice looking concept. Folio looks very useful.

I like the idea of having a main program interface where we can open different types of text files but it then becomes a full text editor for those supported file types. Whereas something like ShowPicture uses picture datatypes to load, display and save supported image types, a ShowText application could load, display and save supported text files using text datatypes. Files could include Text, RTF, HTML, PDF, etc. The display application then becomes the editor as well. That would add to the capabilities of MultiView as far as what we can do with text dataypes.

One of my favorite text editors for 68k is TTX (TurboText). It has a nice white background and a simple menu system like MultiView that is easy to use. What would make it nicer is if the text editor could display and edit all file types supported by text datatypes. Personally, I would also like syntax highlighting such as Scintilla Text Editor. With an All-In-One Text Viewer/Editor we could edit and save Text, open PDF and save as text or rtf, open HTML and save as Guide. There are many possibilities!

But why stop there? Why no have a Sound Editor as well for file types supported by Sound Datatypes such as WAV, MP3, MOD, etc. Just a few ideas.

But in that sense I suppose they would just be Viewer/Converters and full-featured editors like Folio are needed.

Hello GreenNight

Unluckily Folio_v1 you pointed me to is, exactly, the one that does NOT work anymore on AROS OWB. And that I kindly hope someone will fix (if not the author itself).
