Always nice to hear successfull stories :D

ACER aspire one zg5 is a very nice netbook for AROS. You can also connect to external monitor if you need higher resolution. Some programs needs at least 1024x768 and the netbook screen res. is 1024x600. For most it is no problem but just wanted to mention.

@xboxown inspired me to pick up a lightly used white ZG5 on ebay (for $36 delivered to my door). This is my first AROS install on real hardware (using ICAROS 2.2.2) and it is pretty cool. There's a few minor issues I'll try to fix and I'll post up some progress and a photo later =)

I plan to use the little beasty for a cache of retro-programming PDFs and a little programming fun during my lunch break. The small form factor is a nice compliment to the MacBook Pro I have to haul around for work.

Thanks to every one who helped make this happen!

Nice :) Always good to see new people. Aspire one is a cheap and good way to experience AROS.

Does anyone know how to get VGA output working to a monitor?

(well it helps to have the cable pushed in all the way I guess!)

Yes VGA output works great. Used it many times.

I just picked one of these up and am surprisingly impressed with it. I don't really know why but the one I found was almost like new with original box and leather case and still only £35. I expected something turning up that needed stripping down and cleaning years of grime out of it.

It can be a little slow in places but on the whole this little machine is quite a surprise. I'm sure it would be much better to source individual parts for a much faster machine but this is very portable (aside from having to be attached to the mains all the time).

My only complaint is the fan is a bit irritating and it never goes off. Maybe the thermal pad needs to be replaced?
