Some USB joypads show up and can be configured others don't.
Even the ones that show up can be a pain to configure.
I seen that morphos have a xbox.hid where everything is ready set up for xbox controllers. We should have something like that to. Some controller that is easy to find and ready to use. I have 2 fighting stick or mame controllers that work good with classic 2 button but in trident when I track incomming signals they show up very strange and I can not configure for all the buttons.
The other day I tried the Playstation 1 emualtor fpse again and it works great. I even found out it was updated in 2015 and joysticks should now be supported in AROS but it does not work. When I bring up the prefs program it does respond when I press the buttons but nothing happen when I try to use it in a game. I seen AmiDog put up all the source code for all the plugins etc. Is that something someone could look at? Something is wrong there.

https://amidog.se/amiga/

If you download this archive there is a plugin dir with source code.

http://www.amidog.se/amiga/bin/FPSE/2 ... 29/FPSE-0.10.6-SDK.tar.gz

Joyll - is the plugin that I would like to use. It should
make it possible to configure you controller like a playstation pad.

From source code joyll.c you can see this.

https://pastebin.com/iauMGKGU

Anyone see something wrong there?

There's nothing obviously wrong here. It doesn't support the analog sticks (no trace of JP_ANALOGUE_PORT_MAGIC or SJA_TYPE_ANALOGUE), but that shouldn't stop the regular buttons from working. I'll see if I can get my controller to work in VirtualBox, and try it myself.

BSzili: thanks for looking into it. Please look at the ini file in fpse dir. I have a feeling that the numbers there for directions or buttons are reported wrong. Joyll plugin.

Does this look ok to you?
This is after I configured the joypad and saved. I'm pretty sure "Triangle" value = 18 is the key E that is configured as alternative to the Triangle button on the pad that seams to have value = 4194303.

Triangle=1,18,4194304,0
Cross=1,50,1048576,0
Square=1,33,2097152,0
Circle=1,35,8388608,0

4194303 is 0x400000 in hex, which corresponds to JPB_BUTTON_RED (bit 22)

BSzili: Ah, good then :) It is not any problem there. What could the problem be? our lowlevel.lib?
Joypad, joystick works in MAME or Janus-UEA but there only with standard amiga configuration max 2 button.

This is from fpse manual

joyll emulates a PSX pad using lowlevel.library and the keyboard.

This plugin allow you to use a combination of the keyboard and lowlevel.library to
emulate a PSX pad. This means that you can assign the missing buttons to the keyboard.
Note that the lowlevel.library mapping overrides the keyboard one, so you can't use
both keyboard and lowlevel.library for the same button at the same time.

Port - [0 | *1 | 2 | 3]

Up [JOY UP] [UP ] Change
Down [...
...

(* = default setting)

. Change
Press this to change the keymapping.

Who knows. Did this plugin ever work on AROS? I think the best course of action would be to make a new one based on it, that support the analog sticks too.

BSzili: I don't think so. I sent mail to amidog about it.

Its been years since I tried FPSE and I did not know about the updates before recently.

Found something interesting.

Here is all FPSE versions released.

https://amidog.se/amiga/fpse/

In this version:

FPSE 0.10.3 (The 2012-02-05 releases):

First version to support gamepad in AROS, gamepad works :)

edit: I'm pretty sure this is what mess things up on AROS.

This is from version history.

151009: I noticed there was an unreleased small update. The only change is in the lowlevel.library joy plugin. It allows two lowlevel ports to be used to emulate one psx pad. I've also put together a little plugin SDK. The sources for a few plugins are included. More plugin sources will be added later when I've fixed some dependencies.

I see, could you try the 2012 version to see if that works?

BSzili: yes, both versions from 2012 work. From 2015 it got broken.

This is what happen in 2015 and I pretty sure what give problems.
