Hello,

Now that Microsoft's future multimedia product has been labeled "Zune", we might expect loads of people to google for that name and, eventually, go to the corresponding Wipedia page, which is a disambiguation page that points both to the microsoft's product and to the AROS' Zune pages.

As you can see, though, "our" Zune's page is quite poor, there's basically nothing in there, and there's not much even in the AROS Wiki page.

This is the right opportunity to organize ourselves and put up some nicely written and informative wikipedia pages, about AROS and Zune, before Microsoft forces us into changing our GUI Name. Wikipedia reaches millions of users every day, you can be sure that people will start talking about this issue more and more frequently, and MS will do something about it.

So... let's act now!

Just brainstormed for a few minutes, and thought of a few additions. Will work on the page once I finish work;

-------------
Zune Links to development docs

Project & Development History

Reasons for project

Project Future & Possibilities

Projects position within the amiga community

Application software with pics

Example of opening a window

Plenty of links

A few screen piccy showing native apps on aros, maybe aros preference panels

added a couple of links to Aros-Max and Aros archives

perhaps the contents of this page:

http://mama.indstate.edu/users/nova/list.html

...could also be moved there and updated (with the author's permission of course)

I see someone was quick to follow my pointer on pasting the contents of that page...which is great

but - was permission granted to do so? - I'm guessing the original author wouldn't mind but do we know for sure?

Small notice (on the verge of 'duh' though ):
beside putting AROS itself on the wiki, also check pages like Amiga or AmigaOS for references *in the text* towards AROS. This is not done on all of the national wiki's yet. e.g. on the NL wiki the state was very dire (fixed); the French Amiga page passes over AROS and MOS in one tiny line.

A nice paragraph about 'the future' or 'alternate AmigaOSes', coupled with some references of AROS able to run on X86 and so: that's what draws attention. :)

I notice searching for Zune now takes you straight to the MS page and not the page with the choice of AROS and MS.

I wonder who made that happen?

Considering the fact our zune has been around for many many many years longer than Microshafts zune - I really dont see how they can "force" us to rename it (as we already discussed on the ml).

Not only has the disambiguation page disappeared, along with any mention of the original Zune in the MS article, but the "Zune (GUI toolkit)" article has been deleted.

I've always said Wikipedia is the worst thing that could happen to human knowledge, and this is one of the proofs.
