Hello my dear friends (and users, and lurkers), since many wonderful things are happening in the AROS land, and Icaros Destkop is still stuck to 2 months ago system files, I think it needs a little refresh. Icaros 1.1.6 update is on the works (slowly, slowly, but it will come), and I am collecting ideas and files also for the next point release, which will be obviously called 1.2. For this release, I'd love to have a new look. Icons will be the same, but I start feeling the default OS4-like Windows borders a bit... abused.

What I am looking for, is mainly something that will remember, for look and functionality, the current one, because I feel that Amiga is well represented by the classic theme shape, but I don't want it to look too much like AmigaOS 4.0. I'd love that Icaros Desktop has its own "personality", with a theme that is clean and immediately recognizable as the Icaros Desktop one. So I am asking the community for help. I'd love to get some new themes from you, and the best one will become the new official Icaros theme, for versions 1.2.x.

There are, obviously, some guidelines:

- the top bar must have the Icaros logo on the left corner:

(you can edit these images to get the logo or the title)

- NO Amiga Boing or checkmark anywhere, NO kitty, NO simple cat's eye only. Read it twice, please.




- close gadget must be on the left of the title bar

- windows titles must be clearly readable with highly contrasted font/background (at least as they are now)

- theme must not have glitches, or issues like blank pixels between margins or so

- preferably, simple themes should be provided in at least three base colours, with names like themename-color




- decorated and artistic ones that need fixed colors to be beautiful, can have only those colours, no need to create other two flavours of them.

NOTE: colors are of your choice. Please use ones that can be matched to the widest range of possible desktop background images. If you feel your theme needs a particular background image, please provide both 4:3 1600x1200 and 16:10 1920x1200 resolution versions of it.

- themes must work with hardwired's theme manager, and must be perfectly compatible with current AROS builds

I thought this one was the theme that defined AROS:

After all it was designed as an original theme and not imitating any other Amiga OS or flavor.

It may need some tweaks but I think of AROS when I see it.

Without sounding rude, please that is not Aros, bland.

I like the glass theme myself. Trouble is that this is a very personal thing so getting agreement will be tough.

I only mentioned it because it is the default theme in the nightly builds and because it was created for AROS. I agree that it is not state of the art theme, hence my line: "It may need some tweaks....". I am sure that it could look really nice if we polished it a bit. That's all!

I don't have the knowledge or talent to do a new theme, but I did put together pieces from different themes, and did some small parts on my own like the parent button and the aros button in the menu.
I could always add the icaros logo at the left, but its no way I could follow all the rules.

nikolaos: I like it. Colors are a little too "WindowsXPish", and I'd prefer the close gadget on the left, but it is surely something I might consider for a default theme.

Yes it's time to do a new one. K guys first find
a theme on deviant (or any other site) that have a style
that you like and that would fit icaros/aros.

Post a link/ss here, so that I can see in what direction to go.
