I'd have to go with Realtek as that is what is in my PC and the others in my family.

heh, well i dont know what sana2 drivers neil plans, but i hope to get a few done for the lwip based stack that jac and myself have been hacking away on .. though they are unlikely to be compatable with the amitcp stack due to design issues we are taking with our stack.

I have old code from drivers ive worked on before for a bunch of cards though most of the code is in 68k asm so theyll need reworked but it covers a broad section of older cards. I would be more keen to get drivers for my 3c2000 and nforce3 / nforce 4 gigabit nics =D

Anyhow... heres a quick pic to let you know how we are getting on .. sorry its not exciting (and thanks to olivier for porting mosaic)

Just a quick test of some basic stack functionality using mosaic and a very light weight web server (cheetah).

Ive also got an email client in the works but more later ........

Do we have 2 TCP/IP stacks?? Or, what is the difference between these???

Yes, two TCP/IP stack are on the work:
1) Neil took the TCP/IP bounty
He is the one who wrote the PCMCIA/PCI Prism2 WiFi AmigaOS3.1/4 driver. I presume he wants to follow those works, and produce a SANA2 compatible driver. The stack itself could be an AmiTCP heritage, as RoadShow is: An executable forges the bsdsocket.library at start, which client software uses to access the Internet. The drivers themselves are devices meeting SANA2 standards.
2) Jac and Nic port the LwIP
At the moment, only loopback works, but a tap/tun driver is about to be done for the Linux hosted version of AROS. Here, the bsdsocket.library is a regular disk based library.
First call to this library launch the stack task, and client software access the Internet through the bsdsocket.library as usual.
The drivers are different.

I think the drivers should be the same at the end, but having any bsdsocket.library is a good thing to test and port applications, waiting for network cards drivers. Even if a last re-compilation has to be done to support one or the other TCP/IP stack.

IMNSHO Supported drivers should be:

NE2000 - Most older cards support this standard
Realtek 8139 - So plentiful, and so cheap!
VIA Rhine - Comes on most cheapo taiwanese mobo's nowadays and on the Pegasos as well
NForce 2/3/4 - Covers most of the other motherboards
Intel/3com - Covers everything else

Just a thought........ Will Marvell Gigabit Ethernet be supported?

Yes, I do believe it is. I think it is the only way I will get my Linksys driver...Now to find the spare money to do it with....

Qustion

If we start up some NIC bounties now and get drivers will we need to do that again when the next TCP/IP implimation is done? Don't really want to have to do two bounties for the same hardware......
