USB Joystick support

I did some testing using a usb joystick and none of the games "out of the box" worked even though many of them state on the configuration screens that joysticks are supported.

I was able to emulate keyboard presses using the joystick but as all the games seem to use different keys this is not really viable.

Is this an issue with the way the games were writen (assuming written before usb stack was completed), Icaros/Aros coming feature or my set up?

The joystick is rather odd too I guess as I'm using a TAC 2 wired into a hacked playstation 1 controller -> usb converter. Before you ask why, it was what I had lying around LOL. (should not be the issue as shows up ok in the USB stack and tests well, and as above, emulating keys is not a problem).

I did some tests with the same result using this joystick: Competition Pro Retro
Maybe joypads have to be used?

AROS joystick support is not perfect. I tried some pads that work good some not good.
Appart from that programs need to be compiled with latest lowlevel.lib to take advantage of joystick.
Good game to test your joystick is Open Tyrian.
Can be downloaded from here:

I have the Logitech dual action pad and a Ms sidewinder stick. They both work great on the Boh demo, but no luck with Open Tyrian.

I have tested a hardware with Open Tyrian and it worked.

Trio Linker Plus II from EMS.

It is a USB interface for PSX1/2, Dreamcast and Gamecube pads.

Hi,

I tried a USB joypad : "Logitech Wingman Precision", it's working great with Turrican II. I didn't try it with other games for now.

I just plugged the joypad, modified the config file ("joyport2=joy1" or something like that) and it worked flawlessly.

On my p4 1.8ghz, it's very playable with sound on, but with some sound glitches sometimes. With frameskip up to 2, the sound glitches are rare.

I believe people with good cameras (Steve ?) should make a vid of that feature. Sound, speed, joypad support is really a great feature we have on Icaros, other amigafans on powerpc doesn't as far as I know.

demether can you save the Janus UAE config with frameskip=2 and the option will still exist when you close Janus UAE and reload it?

I do it using the GUI on Display-Emulation speed and it doesn't get saved.

Do you know the command to it for uaerc.cfg?

I modify the game amibridge config file with text editor (simpluy clicking on the config file), I don't use the uae gui prefs.

In the game config file, if I remember correctly for frameskip I use "framerate=2".
