Well it is not too bizarre : )
The boaard supports everything from sempron to the latest 6core. 6core is not the base-cpu(only a option). I don't think that it is bizarre - AMD and ATI is my preferred choice.... that's all.
Also Hyperion people stated that if x86 it should be AMD64...
I share this thought. AND i dislike Intel "normally" really much... personal taste if you like : )

And i'm using AMD because i have contacts and my concept board for the ARES2 was and is based on a design by AMD.

I guess I misunderstood the intention. I'd assumed via the thread title that the idea was a high-end AROS system and it was based on that I thought a phenon2 x6 was an unusual choice.

Hi guys,
Click to see original Image in a new window

what do you think about those cases?
I like Lian Li and i'm thinking about to make those as option available.

BTW i have smaller cases in the program too.

I'd say looks nice and clean from the front but the side loading optical drive bays are a little weird, and limit where you can put the box for access.

Phheeeeww! I have it! After the last tests and getting network running it is chosen: the new baby!

I have to correct one point:
the board manages more than DDR2 @1066 -> it manages 1200 safely(o.c option )! I tested some but not all CPU's the optimum so far is a Phenox x4 black edition with 3.4 real Ghz - it flies also in single-core operations : ) But for less money you get a Athlon64x2 6000+ (real 3GHz per core).
We will try to make some options possible.

Some of the now offical features:
8 channel Hdaudio compatible chipset(optical output)
6x USB external
6x USB internal
Realtek 8112L Gigabit Lan
ATI HD4200 onbord (HDMI/DVI/VGA) surprise!surprise!
!!! Hybrid CrossFireX support!!!
5x internal SATA
1x eSATA
ArosBios ready! - no fear, even if i send you a crapy update! The board supports a Bios Failsave recovery via USB and CD.
Up to 16GB RAM! Yeah ok ok i now that AROS can't use it but if you want a nice cross-developer-system and or small workstation why not : D BTW Broadway64 can handle for now ~4GB.

-Powered by IcAROS and or Broadway / whatever you like
-enough room for a Catweazel, Wifi

I would say the smaller, the better. Think Mac Mini. :)

Yeah but the AresOne is still meant as workhorse(expandable wit catweazel, Wifi,A prof. audio card for Audio Evolution), now it is a work-pony : D
It is smaller but highly scalable.

yeah, there is for sure a need for something like ArosONE.
I like to have both. A nice small laptop and a big-box without compromise.
You can not get that from a small box.
If you want the ultimate AROS experience you need a nice pci-express Nvidia card, a nice soundcard like ESI juli@ and some monster cpu ;)
