First of all i could not check-out the game myself (out of diskspace ) so i have no idea how things relate to this game.

Here can be read that there is a global environment variable (Language) that holds the current active language.

You can check this yourself by typing "getenv language" (without the quotes) into a shell. Or it can be used in a script as variable $Language.

It can also be done programmatically using the OpenLocale() function (with NULL as parameter to return the current locale information)

I just don't know if it's all worth the effort as i assume it can be set manually in the game as well ?

BTW: nice work again BSzili \o/

I tested it on my self-built Linux-hosted AROS with enabled debugging support. I'm using the hosted-mesa library.

At start it prints hundreds of errors like this:
/home/mazze/projects/fullaros/aros-src-v0/rom/dos/./fwrite.c, 50: bad pointer: block = $b8c4fef8
/home/mazze/projects/fullaros/aros-src-v0/rom/dos/./fwrite.c, 83: bad pointer: buffer = $b8c4fef8
/home/mazze/projects/fullaros/aros-src-v0/rom/dos/./write.c, 69: bad pointer: buffer = $b8c4fef8
/home/mazze/projects/fullaros/aros-src-v0/rom/dos/./fwrite.c, 83: bad pointer: buffer = $b8c4fef9
/home/mazze/projects/fullaros/aros-src-v0/rom/dos/./write.c, 69: bad pointer: buffer = $b8c4fef9
/home/mazze/projects/fullaros/aros-src-v0/rom/dos/./fwrite.c, 83: bad pointer: buffer = $b8c4fefa
/home/mazze/projects/fullaros/aros-src-v0/rom/dos/./write.c, 69: bad pointer: buffer = $b8c4fefa
/home/mazze/projects/fullaros/aros-src-v0/rom/dos/./fwrite.c, 83: bad pointer: buffer = $b8c4fefb
/home/mazze/projects/fullaros/aros-src-v0/rom/dos/./write.c, 69: bad pointer: buffer = $b8c4fefb
/home/mazze/projects/fullaros/aros-src-v0/rom/dos/./fwrite.c, 83: bad pointer: buffer = $b8c4fefc

It hangs early when I try to go to the screen right of the waterfall. AROS is still running but the Frogatto window remains black. The last message in the Shell is "in level constructor..."

Tried the game and it works quite well. Had a crash at some point but good job :)

amiga: Yeah, I've also noticed this. I'm not sure how the automatic language selection works in this game, but I'll look into it after I got rid of the crashes.

mazze: Ugh, that looks nasty. I wish I could get linux hostgl to work, so I can test the game with a playable speed :-\ Is it compiled by default?

nikolaos: Where did it crash? Is it the same place mazze mentioned?

BSzili: It was in the arcade mode. Suddenly the screen went black and it was not way to get out of it. AROS worked as normal though.

IIRC it's in SYS:Storage/Libs. Just copy it to Libs:

Ah, there it is! Unfortunately it doesn't work with virtualbox's GL driver, I got a nice segfault. I wonder if WMware's GL support is any better

It's awaiting final debug to make it to AROS Playground (as well as Adoom3 by Kalatmee - it's time to redo the feature banners I guess)...

Article is written - just awaits final version to get published (crashes expunged).

I must say that I'm slightly disappointed with only OpenGL support. it rules out some machine specs... But that's life!

I'm afraid it's not a simple "final debug" you're waiting for. Hopefully I'll be able to find a way to run the game with a playable speed, so I can find out why the heck does it crash

Crash on exit:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0xaa6a42cc in ?? ()

...

(gdb) bt
#0 0xaa6a42cc in glGetError ()
#1 0xaa4d4ee1 in main (argc=1, argv=0xa7ceeab0) at src/main.cpp:553

...

(gdb) disassemble glGetError
Dump of assembler code for function glGetError:
0xa75d1ec0 <+0>: mov %gs:0xffffffb8,%eax
0xa75d1ec6 <+6>: jmp *0x358(%eax)

...

(gdb) print $eax
$1 = 0

It may be calling glError() when GL is not there anymore.

"bad pointer" messages:

They might come from host GL library and be harmless if it's just things like (format) strings inside that library which is at memory addresses unknown to AROS.
