Huawei e169 usb modem works now ,well at least here.

Maybe e220 and some other huawei's too, ( usb vendor ID 12d1, device ID 1001 or 1003 )

huawei-modeswitch is now build in to cdcacm.class
and several problems in ppp.device fixed ( outgoing packet checksum calculation was faulty... )

update from nightly builds:
classes/usb/cdcacm.class
devs/networks/ppp.device

System/Network/AROSTCP/db/ppp.config
something like this:

DEVICE usbmodem.device
UNIT 0
ENABLE DNS
USERNAME dummy
PASSWORD dummy
SEND ATZ
WAIT OK
SEND AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","your internet provider APN here!"
WAIT OK
SEND ATDT*99***1#
WAIT CONNECT

if DNS option is enabled, ppp.device adds nameservers to
AROSTCP/db/netdb-myhost automatically,
and they works after rebooting (or arostcp stopping/restarting).

BTW. Is there way to change nameservers on the fly, without restarting tcp?

I owe a EVDO modem: AnyDATA ADU-520C.

I'm on vacation in August but as soon as I'm back and the wifi is landed, I can try this one.

I suppose, some changes were done so it is possible to make it running

AnyDATA modeswitch is now implemented, but i have no idea if it works or not...

Debug output (sashimi) is welcome. (even if it works)

Hi Sami

I have a Huawei E160 (unlocked), and would be happy to test for you.

How do I obtain vendor and device id's ?

I have an Huawei e169 here, I want to connect to "Tchibo" (Germany). Here you can find Tchibo APN

http://www.telespiegel.de/handy/gprs-umts-zugangsdaten.php

This is what I did in ppp.config:

DEVICE usbmodem.device
UNIT 0
ENABLE DNS
USERNAME
PASSWORD
SEND ATZ
WAIT OK
SEND AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","webmobil1"
WAIT OK
SEND ATDT*99***1#
WAIT CONNECT

as no Password etc. is needed I left it blank in ppp.config. IP is dynamic... what should I put in there ???

Prefs/Network:
already had an eth0 with DEVS:network/atheros5000.device, so I inactivated that one, and made a new eth1, just with usbmodem.device (without path). What else/ how do I have to configure network.preferences.

Thanx for help

My settings:

Network Preferences:
Nameppp0 (this is important)
address192.168.0.188 (default ?)
Net Mask255.255.255.0
Device
DEVS:networks/ppp.device not usbmodem.device !)
Unit0

IP mode: manual
Gateway 192.168.0.1 (default ?)

Prefs/Env-Archive/AROSTCP/db/interfaces look like this:

ppp0 DEV=DEVS:networks/ppp.device UNIT=0 IP=192.168.0.188 NETMASK=255.255.255.0 UP

Hopefully This Helps.

BTW. There is error in my first post:

config file is:
Prefs/Env-Archive/AROSTCP/db/ppp.config

NOT:
System/Network/AROSTCP/db/ppp.config

Sorry.

O.k. I'll give it a try, what about the ppp.config file what should I put for "IP" ? If no PW is required, leave it blank ? or put in quotation marks ??

EDIT: no doesn't work...

BTW, when changing networkprefs, and click on "Use" or "Save" I get an error message saying "Cannot restart....". Is there another way to restart TCP/IP stack, as I donnot want to restart whole computer all the time.
