@all
seems we might have support for broadcomm chipsets easier after all: this is fresh on osnews: BREAKING: BROADCOM OPEN SOURCES WIRELESS DRIVERS and following the comment it seems under MIT/BSD license too :) Saimon69

Just tested your driver on S10-3 IdeaPad with Atheros AR9285
(0x168c / 0x002b), obviously doesn't work. Error Message: drv=01f287e4 failed to initialize driver interface... I will try on an AcerAspire One 250D later... greeting gerograph

That would definitly make my Dell D410 AROS compatible! (and my non-standard Dell D505 would be AROS wifi compatible too. Time for a broadcom bounty!

Any chance to implement drivers for Atheros AR8132 ? (0x1969 / 0x1062). Maybe I can pay a bit as well. Got that one sitting in my Acer Aspire One 250d. BTW everything else works expect WLAN and LAN !! greetings gerograph

@gerograph
Sorry, I'm not going to think that far ahead. I still have to make the 5000-series driver stable and implement missing features. After that, the bounty requires a USB driver. @Hercules The chipset doesn't seem to be as common in PCI cards as it is in laptops. The list of compatible cards should be similar to the compatibility list for the Linux MadWifi driver. Here's another list of Atheros cards, but it might include some incompatible ones.

Thanks for the info... I will probably wait until support for usb wifi dongles is completed as my imica system only has a single PCI slot, so that is likely to be filled by my gfx card.

I've filled out all the info in the wireless.prefs but I'm not sure what key_mgmt or what wep_tx_keyidx is. I left key_mgmt on NONE and wep_tx_keyidx=0.
I have a Secure WEP 40/128 bit key router and I get... Networks/atheros5000.device 0 Config failed: 4/15 Online: 0 [set_key] P1 blah blah blah
