Mazze, that's the same old story: on AROS hosted, BnP works, but on native it crashes immediately. Tested last time just yesterday.

What exactly do you expect from Bars and Pipes without a midi interface or even midi support ?

@nikos
other sequencers in other platforms allow to simulate midi using some kind of software engine; should not be a bad idea expand AROS bnp with an engine like that, waiting for some kind of real MIDI support either via serial or via USB

I can reproduce the problem under Qemu. I need the source code of BNP or an e-mail address of Frank Charlet.

Bug hunting on "native" is a bit difficult, but the first thing I want to try is to open a Screen with the same options BNP does.

@mazze

you can try to send him a message to his aros-exec account. A link can be found in the first post of this thread.

You can try also hhhikr at gmail com, but I am not sure if this address is valid.

Franck has sent me the source. I could isolate the problem to the line "SA_DisplayID, HIRESLACE_KEY,". I have started a thread on the dev. mailing list to find out if this is really an AROS bug.

when talking about MIDI, audio, AHI etc. I cannot emphasize enough:
WE NEED SOMETHING LIKE jackd ON LINUX! an all purpose, connect-everything-to-everything audio-server! this allows for easy network-MIDI-plugging, recording from any application to any application, plug-in anything to anything, re-use plugins with any application, etc.

thanks for listening.

(
btw.: please, to avoid confusion, release BnP via aros-archives.org, and just replace the file with new version (no version number in filename, just update file and readme-file, and stick with one archiver/packer (zip? tgz?)
)

finally: SUPERB WORK! THANKS FOR BNP!

I would welcome a new audio.hidd with a bit of modern touch for Aros as well. AHI could be reworked, but still...

I strongly agree!
Without a professional (low latency, redirectable, etc.) audio system, no serious musicians will use any Amiga system.
