My motherboard has an onboard GMA X3100 and a Realtek 8101e. I've used PCITool under AROS to confirm.

I have put "forcegma" and gfx=IntelGMA into my kernel options, as well as LIB=DRIVERS:intelg33/45.hidd (something like that I pulled from a forum reply), but I am not having much joy. It is not critical - I can use VESA if I must, but the 2d acceleration would be nice. I would prefer to use the onboard, but I will just buy an Nvidia card at some stage if I must!

The 2nd thing is the onboard Realtek 8101e, which works on RT8169 drivers under Linux. I'm assuming the RT8169 are also the correct drivers under AROS? I can't seem to get it working.

X3100 is not a GMA9x0 chip, so it will need different drivers or another path added to the current Intel one. Anyway, it needs a developer doing this.

RTL8101 should work with RTL8169 device driver. You're probably mis-configure your network settings which, I know, might not be as easy as for other operating systems. Please follow the manual carefully.

Thank you for clearing up that X3100 is not supported and for confirming that the Realtek is. I had AROS up and running on another machine, so I'm not sure what I could be doing wrong. I will just use VESA for now, but I need to get me an Nvidia for this rig because I'm missing out on the Gallium3D excitement and I'm sure the Realtek will come online if I prod it enough. Actually, I've made some changes to the GMA driver and there's now a good chance that the X3100 will work. You can get the updated driver from a recent nightly build or the new distro for the AspireOne. If it doesn't work first time with forcegma, please post details of the PCI device so I can make the necessary tweaks to the driver.

For you network card, maybe the PCI ID is missing from the driver. When you try to go online, is rtl8169.device listed in Scout or with devlist?

EDIT: For the graphics, please wait until I release a new driver version (hopefully today).

I've only tested it with GMA 950 and GMA 4500, but in theory it should work with the chip generations in between with minor tweaks.

But when I changed the screen resolution to 1280x800x24 bit, AROS would always crash at early wanderer (before icons etc).

Also the mouse pointer was distorted. Just some lines in a square.

But this is the first time I have tried native graphic and not the boring VESA mode, and I love it!!!!

I've replaced the driver at the link above with one that will hopefully solve the mouse pointer bug. I have the same problem with 24-bit modes on GMA 4500, so you'll have to stick with 16-bit modes for the moment.

BTW, you shouldn't need forceGMA anymore for that particular machine.
