Hi,

I could not really find much on this (besides within emulation) but are there any plans/projects to get Aros running on classic hardware like the A1200? I know about the Natami plans but I was wondering if classic hardware was a target.

@Coder
AROS 68k already runs on real hardware. Here's a video from last year showing just that:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xz1dyXMdtNE

Please note that AROS 68k is a lot more polished now than the version shown in that video, perhaps you could try it on your Amigas and give us an updated video?

I might have to give 68k AROS a try myself on my a1200 (40mhz '040+32meg fast RAM). My plan of attack was to set it up via winuae and then transferring the hdd back across to the amiga. Is this possible, and are there any descriptions on the process please?

If you have a way of making an Amiga Floppy from an ADF, you can download and write to a Amiga floppy the amiga-m68k-boot package from http://aros.sourceforge.net/download.php

That includes a amiga-m68k boot disk, that will boot into AROS from AmigaOS.

The nightly builds can be a bit shaky, and you will want to have the Amiga's serial port hooked up to another computer via a NULL modem cable (115200 N81) to log any boot messages.

Only with those messages can Toni and I help debug issues you may find.

Word of warning - there is a known issue with the ACA1230, due to the way AROS m68k performs A3000/A4000 motherboard memory detection. We're working on fixing that, but it is 'known broken' right now.

Can you say when this issue is resoved. (if not already)

I tried the aros-rom in my 1200 with aca1230/28, no go.

I am now trying to boot using the boot floopy, but im 3 disks down because of read errors. Will keep trying :)

"No go" is variant of common so called "It does not work" bug report . Try again :)
Seriously, without serial log it is impossible to know what went wrong.

You don't need floppies, just transfer arosbootstrap and aros.elf.gz to Amiga's HD and run arosbootstrap. No other files needed. (Of course make sure you enter AROS early start up menu and select boot without startup-sequence because AOS startup-sequence can have commands that poke private system structures)

Memory detection is fixed.

I was able to boot via floppy and then also the method you listed above, handy to know that.

Great! I will give that a try.

ok thanks.

arosbootstrap run from hard disk , cool

after that, on aros kickstart (amiga + blizzard 1230 8Mo) :
- cant boot without startup-sequence, amiga freeze (hard disk AFFS with aros68k)
- so i boot from floppy and gives the aros shell, i reassign sys: c: s: etc... on hard disk, but wanderer:wanderer makes loadhunk error ... setclock freeze ... execute s:startup-sequence (without setclock) makes loadhunk errors

thanks
