is that this project we are talking about?:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gtk-mui/

it seems basically even aos 68k compliant even though more functions will likely be at disposal if linking against aros. where is the wrapper? what do i need to download to test (on aros68k)?

i had some severe problems with the main machine so my aros68k building setup is temporarily inaccessible, but i might get around to compile something in this context even if just to test how this work.

Seems so.

Download the sources from the CVS and compile it for 68k. It has been a *long* time since someone used it outside AROS/i386. You need a working glib port, too.

After successful compiling, you get a link library, which you can use instead of -lgtk (-lgtk-mui).

You are welcome. If you succeed, it would be nice to get your changes back to merge them.

@o1i
a bit late back to the topic, but could you share your glib port sources? they arent on aros archives. this time id like to check if i can build glib for v1 and then optionally for 68k particularly in order to build gtk-mui for these platforms.

Sigh. No I can't. I remember, that back then I simply compiled the glib sources, no big changes required, I just disabled the timer code in there.

Last time I did some fixes for janus-uae 1.4 I also wanted to rebuild glib, which now seems not so simple any more, but I invested not much time into that.

So as a conclusion: I don't have the original sources anymore. I should have added them to the repo back then.

So the 32bit v0 binary libglib.a is all that is available at the moment.

thats why im stressing so much on commiting the sources either to aros repo, aros archives or aminet. ;)
otherwise the same work needs to be done over and over. defeats cooperative approach somehow. do you remember which glib version have you ported then approximately, before i take a shot at the latest source and fail miserably;)

edit:
nevermind. i see its 2.6.6

okay, short status report..

i have libffi 3.2.1 building for aros, still untested.
the above is a requirement to build latest glib, namely 2.54.2.
which i also have building after messing a bit with configure scripts. alas i need or rather would like to have the whole package building cleanly instead instead copying headers by hand, before i will try to test it somehow and continue with gtk-mui.

i have few unresolved symbols in test programs, i cannot disable building:
There are undefined symbols in 'gtester':

U clock_gettime        /home/wawa/aros-x86-630/bin/linux-i386/Ports/glib/glib-2.54.2/glib/gmain.c:2776
         U gethostname
/home/wawa/aros-x86-630/bin/linux-i386/Ports/glib/glib-2.54.2/glib/gutils.c:992
         U pthread_sigmask
/home/wawa/aros-x86-630/bin/linux-i386/Ports/glib/glib-2.54.2/glib/gmain.c:5766
         U select
/home/wawa/aros-x86-630/bin/linux-i386/Ports/glib/glib-2.54.2/glib/gpoll.c:380

im not sure yet how to solve it. "gethostname" should be available in bsdsocket according to aros docs, but not to be found grepping through libnet.a. on the other hand even hand linking against it i still cannot get "select". not sure about both others.

any suggestions?

I once compiled an old version of glib (on abi-v0). Needed the lib to compile a game.

From my old notes.

- clock_gettime. hmm this was not a problem,
> config.h: make sure that, /* #undef HAVE_CLOCK_GETTIME */

- gethostname. added include,
> glib/gutils.c: #include "proto/bsdsocket.h"

- pthread_sigmask. configured without threads,
> configure --enable-threads=no

- select. edited makefile,
> glib/makefile: added -lnet to LIBS

Hope it helps.

unfortunatelly you cant disable threads in glib 2.54.2 at all, but i have most of it building already, except network stuff what concerns all new features is causing problems, and you cant disable it as well. not to mention if it will even work if compiled.

perhaps ill have to compile an earlier version in the end, so thanks for the hints, they come in handy!
