Until the armhf port is ready i will prepare a package which can be run with the standard Ubuntu build for EFIKA MX.

Well as soon armhf port is done i would offer AEROS as clean debian/AROS hybrid distro : )

I am looking forward to run it on my new toy: an Genesi - EFIKA MX Smartbook

Can the original Ubuntu 10.10 of the Efika MX be replaced with that AEROS-distro? The little ARM-machine would be much faster then, I think.

Thank you very much for your efforts, Pascal!

Hi ALTea,
this is the plan. AEROS will be an alternative sd-card image for Efika MX.

For AEROS i will use the debian-armhf port which supports also 3D acceleration as soon AROS hosted works on this.

AROS hosted works until now only on armel which is 35 - 200% slower than armhf code. On top of this speedbump you get HW-acceleration..
On top you get a faster User-Interface (AROS hosted). On top i use the most efficient Linux apps (ok more efficient than those from ubuntu : ) ).

Nautilus is replaced by Thunar. Thunar is faster and uses less RAM. Than alone the feature to do a right click and choose "open terminal here" lets a user do his work faster : )

Could you try the archive and tell me if it works on your smartbook?
I have one report that it doesn't work there.

EDIT: Here is a link to the debian-armhf image from Genesi with 3d support.

Hello Pascal,

that all sounds real good to me

I tried the version of Broadway hosted for ARM from the archive on my Efika MX and it looks like it is working on the Smartbook.

Thanks again for your great work,
Carsten
