Hi,
reconnecting with the "AROS Hardware problem" thread http://aros-exec.org/modules/newbb/vi ... pe=&topic_id=6794&forum=4 I would like to ask from AROS Devs knowledge (or other users experience) which "modern hardware" (aka: off-the-shelf) is now supported and/or compatible with AROS. Ex.: - DeadWood could provide a list of off-the-shelf NVIDIA cards that are supported by Gallium driver - Sami could provide similar list for IntelGMA Gallium - ncafferkey for the wi-fi atheros and LAN network cards - etc... etc... I'm not sure if feasible, but asking: Would it be possible to quickly make such lists for devs? Does the source code of this drivers provide info on this? At the end of the day, this will all go in WikiBooks hardware page (http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Aros/Platforms/x86_support) but this thread could provide "last minute" information on supported hardware that people can buy today and use with AROS. -- LuKe P.S. Yes, you got me I'm looking also for an upgrade of my old P4 'heater' into something more up-to-date and energy-efficient

Luke: This would be nice. The problem is in some cases that some drivers are supposed to work with different lets say gfx-cards but are not working as xpected etc. We need more hardware testers. There should be a hardware heaven place where we could test everything ;)

Trying to find fully supported hardware for Aros is like going to a Shooting Gallery with a blindfold on.

Anyone know of a laptop? Not one of the really small 10inch. My eyes are just too old for a screen that small.

I'd like to know what Nvidia cards are SUPPOSED to be supported. I'm willing to buy and take a chance.
Example Nvidia Ion chipset. Is the graphics supported by Deadwood's drivers? I'm confident the Realtek Sound and LAN will work.

Last time I tried, both my nvidia ion chipset atom CPU machines (HP netbook, and ASUS mini-itx motherboard desktop) had boot time issues with the Icaros live CD broken USB support.

Hi, posting this from my Icaros 1.4 usb-install booted from a SAMSUNG N310 netbook:
http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/samsu ... 565.html?tag=mncol;subnav I'm not netbook expert so I can't compare with others, but gfx card is supported (GMA 950), HD-Audio works and wi-fi Atheros AR5001 works fine as well. Should be still easy to buy in shops / ebay. -- LuKe

Yep, seems to have the same specs as the acer aspire one A110 or A150.
The N280 version has changed specs though... Is the screen glossy or matte? It is the one thing that might put me off the acer aspire. Jeff.
