Anyone got Aros to boot with nvidia 8700M GT?

Hi again, trying the next step in converting to Aros completely.

My IcAros machine has been a Thinpkad T41. Works fine with the Atheros WLAN and I am quite happy with it.
Next step:
Get IcAros running on my mean Dell XPS M1730.

I think it is the NVidia card making the problems.
It is an 8700M GT (which is nowhere listed in any compatibility summary). IcAros won´t boot up, it (or the card) switches to a (I think 16) color-cycling screen. It just cycles the whole screen between different colors.

I have read about that color cycling somewhere else, where people pointed out a hardware failure, but my card definitely works under XP/Win7.

Can anyone shed some light on this issue? What makes my NVidia card so useless? I´d love to have the nouveau 3D feature that my T41 won´t deliver.

Vesa works, but I want it all!

Thanks for any help!

Our nouveau driver was ported mid 2011, since then 8700M GT support was added but, summer 2012, even Linux had problems with this nvidia card/chipset.

Just keep everything crossed that a(ny) developer can find the time in the future to update it.

Unfortunately, patience is required or a lot of money...

Jeff.

Ok, that is a clear answer and shows that definitely the GFX card is the problem. Now I am thinking about swapping the 8700m against some other for the XPS M1730. I won´t go lower, but I will check if any other M-Verison of the 9xxxm works with IcAros.

Thanks for this absolute answer!

Regards
Raimund
