Hi All,

Due to pupular demand shown in the AROS Survey I started porting ssh client and server. First, early alpha version can be found here:

http://download.aros3d.org/software/ssh-7.3p1-20160815.zip

Copy posixc.library to LIBS: and ssh to bin: (which is Development:bin).
Please also make sure you have HOME: assign defined.

Since this is alpha, it will basically allow you to connect to server and issue some commands, but nothing more.

Feedback welcomed!

Nice to see popular gaps filled, although I must plead ignorance in regards to ssh.
Never used it, nor do I even know what it is. I have seen quite a few people mention it, but thats the extent of my exposure.
Thank-you nonetheless. :)

Great! SSH is something I was looking for :)

I connected to my server at work :) Do you plan to add some terminal emulator? VT220 or something similar?

ssh = S(ecure) Sh(ell). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Shell

Think of telnet (or basically remote sh) over a SSL connection. That's an oversimplification, but hopefully it's close enough to give you an idea...

Ah, ok then. Thanks.
I can see the appeal in that, even if its not something I personally would have a lot of use for.

Thanks Deadwood. This is a big step towards making AROS usable for me in everyday work.

EDIT: regarding terminal emulation, I've long thought about reusing (parts of) Olaf Bartel's Term.

About terminal emulation: I don't know how these things work, but it seems it is needed for example to run midnight commander. Neil, can you describe in more detail your idea? I would hate to write code myself that is already written.

VT220 was created in 1983 and was heavily used. I did a little searching and found these, in case they help:

Terminal API terminal emulator library

Edit: Hm, Black Screen looks interesting. Project was started last year, 30 contributors, recent commits (including multiple commits per day from different developers). Currently only runs on Mac, but intended to be cross-platform. Unfortunately, it uses JavaScript heavily, which I assume rules out an Amiga port.
