Hi, my last post is dated back to 2011, I have always followed the development of aros, these days I decided to install it on my nexus 7 2012 wifi grouper and I have to say that it works' basically because at the time I wanted to start using it Always if this is possible.
The version I installed is the 20141011 linuxarmhd-system
Inside i found the bootstrap.apk i unpacked the archive in sd / emulated / 0 i found the AROS folder i launched the bootstraap.apk and it started i was very surprised now since it works at least i guess since i do not No problem, I've been looking for the latest nightbuilds but I saw that there is not a bootstrap.apk inside here i downloaded here http://aros.sourceforge.net/nightly.php both the system version that contrib, i'm wrong something Or the device is not supported or there are other methods to install it I just need to replace the latest software versions or anything else.
Then I wanted to ask why there is no more bootstrap.apk inside the archive than the version I used is 1.0.
Here's what I hope to have chosen the right section.
I hope in some suggestions so that you can better understand how to use the latest nightbuilds and possibly if there is something to make them compatible.

Excuse the double post

Thank you.

Hi, sorry, a little help or a reference guide, to understand better, I looked here.
https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Aros/Platforms/Installing_on_Android
Is there a documentation I have a more up-to-date guide?
Thank you for your work, apologize if I asked again.
Grace still.

Hi Renato,

Welcome back !

tbh i know little of android AROS version. But yes, the guide you pointed to is afaik the most recent. I am not aware of any other Android related documentation.

As you have noticed, the .apk that you were able to find is a rather old one. So, in case you would like to have a newer one then afaik you would have to build one yourself from source. Doing so is a pretty tedious job and i am also not sure about the android status for AROS (if there is one at all).

Perhaps someone that know could provide some more details on that.

That was the reason to answer (even though my answer did not helped much).

Unfortunately, i am busy so do not have time to dive into this subject atm. afaik it was a pet project of one of the developers (and also afaik, a developer who isn't around anymore).

Because setting up (the correct) android SDK is a pita and current status for AROS android is unknown to me, it will require (at least for me) a fair amount of time to even get things started.

That is why i hope someone else is able to share a (little) light on current status for AROS/Android.

Did you have any particular issues that you ran into ? Understand that Android is nearly supported and there is quite a lot missing that makes AROS actually usable (but it should be able to run).

At the time aros works very well, the version is up to 2014, then I saw the nightbuilds and tried updating it with 20170501 by reconfiguring bootstrap.conf but by wanderer errors then i was looking manually to figure out how it can be done by replacing the files with Evidence.
What I was wondering was the importance of bootstrap.apk to what exactly it was.
Only to start the system? , Or had other compatibility features and on this I was looking for an answer in general.

Here is where I downloaded the archive where there is bootstrap.apk if it can be useful

Thanks again for your time.

Bootstrap is responsible for setting up the basics and loading/initializing the kernel.

In theory that should still work with newer code-base but i don't think anyone has tested that recently nor am i able to tell what the (current) status is.

You can find the bootstrap code for Android here but can also be found on the nightly download page inside the sources archive.

Afaik you can't just go about changing the apk and instead the apk would have to be build anew from sources.

Again, take it with a grain of salt as i honestly don't know current status. I am also assuming that in case i am way off with my answer(s) that it gets corrected.
