From what I understood we could need an update to our ffmpeg version.

https://ffmpeg.org/

Is that a difficult task?

It might solve our problem with video playback in odyssey web-browser.

I dont remember but i dont think it is that difficult. I might be able to attempt it. In fact i already started. But it isnnt necessarily certain that it will solve anything. Some proper febugging may be worth it. But i dont think anybody will do that

ffmpeg takes good 2+ hours to compile on native aros.

its not that old ffmpeg and therefore its snot granted that newer version will solve anything. as kalamatee said proper debugging would be the way to go. considering deadwood gave up on it, it likely wont be that easy. i dont see it happening to be honest.

and cross compiling ffmpeg wont take that long. i must do it rather regularly re building odyssey.

wawa: I don't think Deadwood gave up on it. I don't think he bothered much to do anything about it.

there is so much to work on. he probably considered it works satisfactory in comparison to other areas. thats about how i see it currently and anyway we likely lack a person who is skilled enough to do anything about it currently.

wawa: You are probably right. I talked to Deadwood about it but it seamed in his enviroment running hosted it worked ok. There was not a good way to trace it or reproduce the bug. From my point of view it could be something with synch video and sound. How is AHI used here? How does Odyssey open AHI and in what requency?
Is there a way to try ffmpeg outside odyssey to test it?
Try to play some video stuff and see how it works?
